[Update] Snow Day! 2x EXP & Drop Event: 1/3 - 1/5

Happy New Year!

It looks like the Northeast is prepping for winter storm Hercules. Most importantly, I hope everyone and their families are safe throughout the storm. On the bright side, a storm of this magnitude can result in a potential "snow day" from work or school!

I grew up in NYC and New Jersey and spent many days with my nose pressed up against my window praying for Nor'easters (so that I could stay home and play video games). Running back and forth between the window and the Weather Channel, I witnessed the blizzards of '94 and '96 which delivered bonus one week and two week vacations, respectively.

Feeling a bit nostalgic, I thought I could try to share that same feeling with our players in and outside the Northeastern United States.

On Friday, we will be running a 2x EXP and Drop event (12 AM - 4 AM, 2 PM - 6 PM) in celebration of the Snow Day. We will also be extending the 2x EXP and Drop events for Saturday and Sunday to run for the same hours.

If snow fall reaches 12 inches or more in New York City or Boston, we will give out a frosty bonus.

Call me a cynic but I think a large part of this is "I'm one of you, an American kid who likes video games," rather than the Korean (by his name) CEO of an ostensibly-American puppet company.

Since I'm from/live in Jersey this was a nice little message. I mean, NYC and NJ suck but this was a nice, thoughtful event from Min Kim. You guys need to lighten up a bit lol.

The frosty weather has broken the seal on cubes! Their power to reconfigure stats is temporarily increased!

Even if new york DOES get 12+ inches of snow I doubt we'll ever see that 'frosty bonus'.

Calling it now, its an ingame buff and some sort of snowflake weather (full map effect) item package.

[Update 1/3] Maplers, it looks like the city of Boston has delivered with over 14 inches of snow. As a special bonus to help you enjoy the Snow Day all accounts over Lv.30 that login between January 3 and January 5 will receive a 90 day Snowman pet early next week.
