seriously though, why do you think it's right to brag about ripping people off again? you know damn well they would get to gollux to get them and that not having access isn't why they bought them. how is this not scamming really?

It's as he said, unfortunately. Not everyone has access to X or Y, so they are able to sell quality or valuable items at a higher price. Kind of the same deal back then when Summoning Rocks and All-Cures were sold to make a small but steady profit. Or people who have loads of alt accounts to take advantage of events to make loads more money.

except people aren't buying them due to lack of access and we all know this. nobody is like NAW IM NOT GONNA GET TO GOLLUX TO GET STARS. peopel bought it cause they thought it was super cheap due to ignorance. he took advantage of that ignorance knowing fullwell he might be able to scumbag some buyers. it's still borderline scamming. what you're talking about would be selling a 140 or 150 gollux ring. that's reasonable for that situation, this is not. this is legitimately jipping people intentionally. people saw cheap stars in the gollux shop, said hey nobody knows yet! and went and undercut the market to rip people off quick before the knowledge got out. it's still ripping people off.

Well you could resell them since getting there is somewhat of a hassle but not for a thousand times its price but for 5 or 10 thousand mesos more(i.e. not 30M but 40k).

it's immoral and if it happened to you in real life you'd be up in arms about it. you are deceiving people into wasting their money on your overpriced item. that's immoral imo. it's not illegitimate in that it's cheating, no. but it's immoral and i stand by that.

Yes, taking advantage of a blatantly obvious mishap/glitch and profiting off of it (off other players, no less) is legitimate and acceptable.

Unless you were actually talked into buying a set with false information, I don't see it as scamming. If anything, merchers are the real scammers in the game 99% of the time.

well said and some of these sales/merches have a lot of "grooming" involved. I've seen a particular someone groom someone into selling them tyrant for dirt cheap(800m) which people argued was legit. when you sit and convince people to sell you something for cheap, that's strange, lying, and scamming. how you said this describes this situation well. it's unfair. it's taking advantage of people and it's not whiteknighting to point that out.

What do you call this "buyers have no knowledge prior to what they're paying for" situation? Principal agent problem? I can't say that I feel sorry for the buyers who immediately jumped at no second thoughts to buy these stars from the "scammers". Heck, I haven't even done the Gollux prequests yet I know of this information shorthand after scanning through Southperry so consider me lucky. This problem will rapidly go away in just a few days the more people are aware of the cheap stars sold in the Gollux shop, so will people really care the next week?. Probably not the victims. All this does is make a cheap, quick profit for the sellers and buyers remorse.

These people have a point. The players themselves 99% control the market, not Nexon, so they have a say in what prices to establish. If Nexon really cares about the players, they would've said in their update notes or in the free market announcements that the stars are really cheap, and not just say "prices have been adjusted" which is a vague statement. Basic economics 101. Go argue at morality all you want, but at the end of the day, it's Nexon themselves who made the free market in the first place. Should you blame them?
