I'm going to buy a Chinchilla. :x
#1
Alright. I plan on getting a Chinchilla soon. Perhaps 2, so the other won't get lonely. I have some leftover Birthday money and planned on spending whatever I have left on getting what I need. I watched some videos, and read some information on what's needed and how to maintain them.

Now, to the point of the thread. I'd like some advice and perhaps the costs of purchasing and maintains Chinchillas. I don't know for a fact if Fiel & Willow own any, but It seems safe to assume that they do. o_o

Anyways, any advice is appreciated. Thanks~

Awwww... Tyler can I come play with your Chinchillas??? *sparkle eyes*

Anyways, I don't think maintaining them is that hard. I would assume it would be like a bunny or something. I will ask my cousin for you. She has one =)

Really, the biggest cost you'll have is to actually buy the chins themselves and their living environment. If you really find out you love chins, you can buy huuuuuuge cages for them and they love it (though I could never afford it).

Keeping a chin as a pet, seriously, costs like less than $0.50 a day after all the startup costs.

Well, I read they like warm environments, and they mainly active during the night. Like, how do you maintain yours, Fiel? The only thing I really worry about is my room can get kinda cold at night, otherwise I have plenty of time, and as you can see I'm up all the time during the night.

They live to be 20, keep that in mind. xP

Captive chinchillas commonly live 15 years, but some have been known to live up to 20 or more.

ROFL!
Male chinchillas tend to be easier to handle because they are not subject to temperament fluctuations due to the estrus cycle.
aka, Mood swings on their periods. XD
Sorry, immature I know, but I found it funny.

Wiki Wrote:If irritated or frightened, the female chinchillas may cluck loudly and spray urine at the offender.

Eh, I plan on getting one in a few weeks. Perhaps 2, depending on the cost.

And Fiel, how much did it cost you to start everything up?

Lol, cute. I have a Miniature Poodle right now. I want to know how he'd react to having some Chinchilla running around. xD

Wow, I would just wonder how my cats would react to a dog of any sort, never had one, and I've only had cats for a couple of years. The top one (Martin) I found in my backyard skinny as pomegranate, and bottom one I adopted (Lilith).
