Monster Life Breeding and Play Reference (WIP)
Stereo; wow, your spreadsheet rocks. I agree with Chilly, we should use yours. That auto update feature is really handy. If we are worried about people spamming it with junk can we make it so it only auto updates for certain SouthPerry logins that were entered as approved? Of course I suppose someone could just enter one of those logins. Or perhaps people could claim their farms and the SP login would only update those farms? Personally I have no problem entering data for my 24 (or however many) farms, the form looks easy enough and usually I have to look at the farm anyway to know what to type so I have to do them one at a time (what a big surprise that I can't remember what's on my 24 farms lol).

MountLag Wrote:Is it possible to have an update form that allows multiple submissions at once? Preferably one that allows text submissions so I can copy paste from excel.

I don't feel like clicking for 44 different farms lul

As long as you use the same column headings as my 'Form Responses 1' I can paste results into that table manually - that's how I copied the Aliens and Humanoids group from Chilly's doc. Um. Either link to a google spreadsheet containing it, or I can give other people write access on the Responses table. The 'Timestamp' column is how I'm picking which is the most recent update, so it should be filled in with the time you checked the farms. (which reminds me, I should add a note on the Form saying it should only be used for Farms you've checked recently). If you leave it blank the query seems to assume it's the oldest result.

Chilly; 'Copy of Information' is actually sorting by the following columns: 1. is the median expiry date in the future (hidden column, but the information is replicated by colouring the expiry date green), 2. ranks, 3. expiry date again (to break ties). It's completely self-contained and ready for duplication - the only reason I haven't replaced 'Information' is that it's the sheet I'm actively editing, so I'm breaking it at various intervals. Come to think of it, I could offer one sorted by rank and another independent one sorted by whatever else is useful (quantity?)
[edit] done changing things for now so I reordered the tabs to put the nicer one at the start.

SaptaZapta; that looks pretty reasonable. (I would also make a table with a dropdown select that only displays one monster, since it's easy to code, but having that table around is sensible) This time I'm going to ask before implementing, though: What questions should the Specials form have? My thoughts are

Farm Nametext input
Monster Typedropdown (note you can type the name of the mob into these and it picks the one you mean)
Quantitytext input
Expiry Datedate

Currently, to indicate a farm no longer has a type, just submit a form with the name, type, and all ranks blank. Not sure if there's a better way to handle that.

I don't think the quantity matters. And expiration date should be the expiration date of the newest such monster, not the median.

I mean, if I am looking for monster X to combine with, I will visit a farm regardless of whether it has 1 such or 10. (I usually only have one or two free spaces on my own farm, so I couldn't do 10 combinations at one go anyway). And as long as it has even one, it remains on the list and there's no need to check back.

Speaking of which, how does one remove a row from your sheet? Suppose I find out that a certain farm expired, or lost all of a specific type, how do I input that? I tried with 0's and with blanks and in both cases the row remained on the sheet.

Whoops, accidentally entered LittlePrincess as farm name under plants. Please remove. I got the correct entry of LillPrincess in.

I recommend some checks - no farm names greater than 12 characters & no exp dates more than 30 days out (unless they have nx monsters that expire later? idk)

I looked for a way to remove them but right now the best I can do is sort them to the bottom of the list. I might be able to also blank out the farm name but I'm not sure that's useful (if someone's desperate they might want to check farms that at some point had the type).

LittlePrincess; will do, I looked into putting checks on the form but I felt like they would be annoying (it doesn't tell you something's wrong when you're filling it out, only after you submit it) I can also add checks in the spreadsheet but then the user doesn't know they did something wrong.

Does this work? It's tab (or whatever the indent character is called) delimited since I copy pasted it from excel, and will probably paste everything into the correct cells.
Need to quote the post before copy pasting though, otherwise it won't work.

I guess the expire date is wrong but you can put whatever date you want, maybe 8/25/2013 idk. Too lazy to check them.

So..I have absolutely no idea what I should be doing to update my farm haha. I guess I'll just put everything here, please delete everything from FishyTank prior to this post.
FishyTank:
Spirits- 3 (all 3 S's) [8/30]
Golems- 2 (both S's) [8/24]
Lilynouch- 1 [8/13]
Puppet Golem-1 [8/24]
King Rombot- 1 [8/25]
Papulatus Clock- 2 [8/26]
Spirit of Light- 3 [8/30]
I'm probably going to start farming Pap Clocks. That is, as soon as I can get more space for my farm ._.

Stereo; would it be possible for you to copy/paste from these spreadsheets to your spreadsheet. It would be must faster than having to input them via the form submission. I left the reliable empty for now since I am not sure if it is a keeper.

Toys
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing

Undead
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing

Yeti and Pepe
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing

All the sections are up to date to this post and include people's submission to your spreadsheet as well as Chillys old spreadsheet.

Also, is it just me or are the Yeti and Pepe sections gone?

I can't see these spreadsheets, did click to request access.

Yeti and Pepe got removed by accident cause the dropdown didn't update when I moved the values a bit, should be back now.

Yeah, it worked, and set them to 8/25 like you said.

My internet dropped out for a bit but now I'm able to get to work on Special types.

I forgot to change them to public, sorry. They should be there now, I updated the previous post and they are below.

Toys

Undead
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing

Yeti and Pepe
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing

Yeti and Pepe are there now, thanks.

Edit:
My next to update are Soldiers and Sailors, Snails and Slimes, as well as Spirit and Sentinels. Those should be done sometime tonight.

Edit2:
In the spoiler below is a list of all the updates to this point for anyone who wants to help go through and update all the farms. It is much easier to have it in one list than go through a few pages. This is for those who have not posted or for farms that we don't own (People like Stereo, SpataZapta, ChaoticCJ, LittlePrincess and other farms that have been input into Stereo's list are not included.)
Oh, and don't put these into Stereo's list, these farms are possible old from almost 100 posts ago, so if you going to help, check the farm first then update it.

Removed one of my Amor Spores.

-Update-

Iruvata (1) expires 8/13

Stereo; Here is the update to the Snail and Slimes, Soldiers and Sailors, and the Spirits and Sentinels. In the same format, for hopefully easy copy paste. This includes all the information to this post as well as the information to this timestamp in the spreadsheet.

Snails and Slimes
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing

Soldiers and Sailors
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing

Spirits and Sentinels
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...sp=sharing

Also I made a mistake on the Yeti and Pepe, please remove "Silesia" from that list. All of those monsters are expired.

I guess Pigs, Plants, and Reptiles are next. Hopefully by Friday I will have that done.

Also, an updated spoiler of all the information posts to up to this post, for the purpose I outline before. This has taken out the sections I have updated (Toys, Undead, Yeti, Snail,Soldiers, and Spirits), as well as special which will be dealt with after all the information for basic farms is complete. Again this information is old and need to be checked, please do not add any farms unless it is your own or have checked it beforehand.

Edit: Here is the list of Specials that people have posted since Chilly last updated(post 542); These are here so we don't have to go through the last 100 posts, but need to be checked before being added when the Special spreadsheet is decided upon.

I added another tab called "Spreadsheet Input", if you could right click that tab and 'copy to' it to a new document that'd make my life a whole lot easier. The main problem I have is that it isn't letting me paste the date of the update unless it's month/day/year hour:minuteConfusedecond type information. Also, hopefully making it a simpler spreadsheet will make it run faster, GoogleDocs is spending a lot of time working when pasting from the complicated one.

Putting it all in one sheet with various monster types will also save me time, which is why it's got that column. Just check that the type is spelled the same as on the main sheet.

Anyway, got it updated with those 3 types.

Yeah that's probably the best plan for Specials.

Ok, I set up the special monsters full chart and form:
full chart
update form

Again, if you want to make spreadsheet submissions, please copy the 'Spreadsheet Input' table's tabs to make it easiest for me to paste results in.

Will be working on the user-friendly (dropdown) version's code now.

[edit]7pm Thursday. Had to disable new responses because the formula I used is not scaling well and the spreadsheet is currently failing to even load.

[edit]8pm Thursday. Responses are being accepted again, new format (like the old chart, just shows a list of names who have the monster). Query automatically filters out expired monsters, but may not be 100% accurate - use the 'Single Type' tab to get details. Running the accurate queries on ~3800 cells was making googledocs slow.

Can the explicit table be transposed? So that the monsters are on rows instead of columns.

It's nice how there's both that and the Single Type sheet though.

Sure, added a second sheet with that.
