Newbie breeder question:

Which of the following combinings (combinations?) is most likely to yield a B (or better) mushroom:
1) my C mushroom with a B mushroom
2) my C mushroom with a B+ (or higher) mushroom
3) my B+ bovine with a B+ mushroom
4) other (please explain)
Also, do the monster levels matter?

I find it harder to get a higher rank monster if I don't combine it with a monster of the same type and rank. (With the exception of rank A+ monsters, I feel that the chance to get a S monster from A+ and A+ combinations is almost the same succesrate as A+ and S combinations, I don't have numbers to follow this up though)

Though option 2/3 could be possible as well, haven't really experimented with that since I didnt want to waste my warus :3. I think you can only get monsters from 1 rank lower/higher or monsters from the same rank as the lowest rank monster that's used when combining, and when you're really unlucky a random C rank monster, but i'm not 100% sure about this.

On the monster levels - In the nexon patch notes of monster life they claim that a higher level has a higher succes rate. I haven't noticed any difference in using a high or low level monster ( I consider lvl 10+ high and lvl 5- low). But I've been seeing posts on basil that people recommend using a level 6+ monster for a higher chance (no clue where this came from though)

Again, I'm not an expert on combining whatsoever :x. Nor have I anything to back up my arguments. This all is just a rough feeling from my experience with combining.

On-topic : I just realised that not all special monsters are in the special monsters/parents list, did you only list the ones that require special combinations from combining ?

C mushroom + C any monster should work. Ideally C mushroom + C mushroom, but you lose a lot of time if you restrict yourself to just mushrooms.

Option 2 might work too but I never tried it.

Somewhere between 40-50 combinations, I didnt keep track after 35.

Btw does anyone know if you only get special monsters from the 250k waru boxes in the special shop ?
I bought a rank S only box and was hoping for a random type of S rank but got an Apsu instead.

The description specifically only states that Specials can be obtained, so I suspect so.

Only the ones that are needed to create a Special monster are listed e.g. Snow Witch and Leviathan are needed to create Pipsqueak Horntail, Snow Witch and Leviathan are listed, Pipsquak Horntail is not. Crimson Balrog has parents, but it too is a parent, so all three are listed. Of course if they aren't in the Monster Dictionary yet, I haven't added them, like the someone that posted in another thread MV can be bred from a pair of other monsters.
