Just in case you where wondering about 2x Drop
#1
It appears to be off.
But only the normal money drop rates- regular LMPQ rates and regular snow rates make me think this.
It could be SECRET 2xDROP!
or..
you only get 2x if you buy it from the CS and then it becomes 4x DROP!Mad

Gah, it doesn't surprise me.

2x Drop events almost always don't work. Tongue

yeah, it definitely seems to be off. 2x drop seems to be glitchy in general... has been for a while too. ):

2x drop events = 2x chance of items dropping.

2x drop cards = 2x chance of items dropping, 2x quantity of mesos dropping.

Not the same thing.

I was definitely getting twice normal droprate on items.

For me, there was no 2x Drop. The monsters I killed dropped crap, and sometimes dropped nothing at all (no mesos, etc items, etc.). I killed Papulatus and got crap.

Same. I got 3 equipment from Roids in around 30 minutes.

Most people think this. Unless it has been changed recently, it is:

2x drop events: Doubles the percent-rate to gain an item.
2x drop cards: Draws once. If the item wasn't dropped, draws again. Doubles mesos as well.

Say an item has .60 rate of dropping. With 2x drop events, the item will drop always (1.20). With 2x drop cards, the item will drop 84% of the time (0.60 + 0.4 * 0.6, or 1 - 0.4 * 0.4)

I was getting Binding Bridles like each 10 MDT I killed during the 2x drop. I don't really think that is twice the normal drop rate, since I was getting them faster just yesterday.

The problem with 2x drop is there's no way to prove whether it's valid or not - with 2x EXP, you can tell because you visually get 2x per monster, however (except in some cases, like with monster leftovers) you can't see something dropping twice as often aside from estimations.

i've been to past 2x events and this one surely didn't seem like it...

When you train for the same amount of time as the day before and get the same, or less, monster pieces while getting the same exp rate, you know there's no 2x drop.

I seem to remember that it used to always be that during 2x Drop events, mesos/ etc item would drop from every monster

so 2x drop doesnt effect the snow drop rate?

2x Drop Events have no effect on ETC items anymore.

I remember that in May of 2007, when there was the first major 2x EXP/Drop events, I was constantly getting mesos and orange mushroom caps from each orange mushroom. Most monsters were like that as well, where they would drop both mesos and etc items. It was uncommon to just get mesos or just get the cap, and it was almost an impossibility to get nothing (I'm talking once or twice in that 2 hour grinding period for my islander at 2x).

Now, there are no increased ETC drops. They're the same as always. :/

Also, I only managed to get 3 equips today. I've gotten as many as 8 in 2 hours, and occasionally, it hasn't even been 2x Drop. It is random, even with the 2x. :X

This is what I thought everytime when I didn't receive double the mesos, but oddly got more drops.

Thanks!
