It's hard to tell what all they're doing since they didn't say. If they got a new server, I would assume they would start by building their raid configuration (depending on which config they choose/how many hard drives are involved) which could take more than just a few hours. On top of that, they would also need to configure the server however they need it to be to work as a game server, sql server, etc etc.

Did you expect them to fix that unannounced? It has been an issue since BB or even longer.

On a more serious note though, it might be because of less people on right now but it definitely feels less laggy. The real test will be later today when it becomes peak times though.
