Patch Available - KMST 1.2.456

Oh! That is slightly less terrible, I can't read Korean so I got the wrong impression from the video since the SoK count was already present. Biggrin

Polantaris Wrote:If they're going to make practically everything that drops instantly untradeable in any way without spending NX, I will stop playing before this patch comes near JMS.

Like I said earlier, all of these changes will truly show whether we're going to keep playing or not. The more I hear, the more I feel like I'm going to topple over into the "Fk this game" area.

So am I. I REALLY want to give this game a chance and support it as I like it despite its many flaws, but what with my region's distributor screwing everything up and the developers making things worse I'd rather quit if this is the nonsense they call a revamp because I've always told myself that my total funding should not exceed that of a lot of other great and more memorable games.

Adding onto this, a side-game I've been playing (Glitch, if you know the name) is shutting down this year due to lack of funds and also the cruel reality that Flash will not be sustainable in the long run. Not only was that game practically free to play, the developers basically released more content in one month than we see in one year (Revamps are not content, thanks) and now that the game is closing they've released all of the concepts they were going to implement and that stuff right there is more content than Maple Story has seen in its entire lifetime.

Food for thought, and I also do believe MS is the only game where there's more revamps than content.

I do not know the name, sadly. I was about to look it up then I read the part where you said it was shutting down and I didn't want to disappoint myself.

MS was not this bad with revamps until Big Bang, but even before then there really wasn't that much content. I stopped playing before Pirates and Cygnus was added, and I came back to only like 5 new islands/areas and some new classes when Big Bang started. I didn't really miss all that much for like 3-4 years of inactivity.

It's sad, because with some actual work they really could have done some great stuff with this game.

It sure changed the game...for all the wrong reasons. As an explorer at heart I'm disappointed with the lack of areas to go to and I'd also love to see each town have more unique features like the towns in some RPGs. Another thing I'd really love is actual raid-style areas with heavy penalties on the classes to limit potential and DoT to prevent AFK-ing, where you'd have to rush through a lot of monsters to get to the boss of the area (It'd have specific weaknesses so you COULD try to solo/duo but it'd be much easier to take down in a party). And don't even get me started on the Heroes who really should have more storyline, it is pineappling ridiculous that my Phantom can mention Arkarium in his story and acts like an amnesiac when doing the Silent Crusade!
HighOnMushrooms Wrote:That is how they are, untradeable upon equipping. You only need the SoKs after that.

Well that's not quite so bad. Like Polantaris said, if they made everything worthwhile that drops immediately untradeable, it would be time to quit.
Overall though, this update is really sad.
For those who have a level 200, and don't feel like giving in to Nexon's push to start over with new class every few months, what is there left to do?
1- Upgrade equips? Why bother when however much time and money you spend, Nexon does its best to make whatever you get worthless, outclassed, obsolete some months later (as this update does). Plus past a certain point it gets crazy expensive anyway.
2- New quests and events? Collect stuff? OK, but this usually doesn't hold my interest for long. Rewards usually not much anyway -untradeable equips or scrolls which I never seem to use.
3- So left with --Bossing. So with this KMS update, any boss past HT is only doable with a full party of godly players. I'm not that godly, and never will be because too cheap. There may be only a few guilds per server active and godly enough to take on these bosses, and chances are they wouldn't want less-than-godlies like me tagging along , because organizing these runs will be a big deal that they won't do very often, and they will need the maximum firepower they can get to finish in under 30 minutes.
So most of us will be left with only regular Zak and HT. Zak is too easy and since the drop rate nerf almost never drops anything worthwhile. Setting up expedition mules may take more time than it does to kill. HT makes you wait a half hour and still drops nothing of use (once you already have the pendant and card). If these bosses are all that will be left for me, things will get boring rather quickly.
Probably I should just give up when this comes to GMS. The entertainment to effort+expense ratio is rapidly approaching zero.

Highlighting this for emphasis. A friend of mine gave me a good argument that it's not wrong to spend on MS if you want to do bossing so long as you enjoy it, but in the end there are a lot of entertainment options available for all of us that could cost less than MS if it's continuing in this trend. In fact, since I like exploring the storyline more I could easily just play without paying if Nexon doesn't stop with this crap and spend my money on other things like books, movies and worthwhile video games.

They just don't seem to understand how much cubing costs, how much a regular person could do with that money and why a lot of people would prefer to buy pre-cubed equips because the gambling is just not worth it. It's things like this and the continual neglect of actual content and storyline that makes me stay at the sidelines of making purchases because I prefer to use gaming skill to enjoy games rather than paying to win and I don't like this trend of not updating the storyline.
I'm going to agree with MissingLink and Curtiss here. The game is now heavily power-creeped. What's the point of even putting money and effort into a weapon, only to find out within 6 months it will be worth 10x Less than its original value. Hothead
It's gotten stupid. Like I said on an earlier page, this patch pineapples over anyone with scrolled/cubed 'top tier' gear such as empress. All those scrolls you used? All those cubes you bought? Worthless.

Worst part about this is that all empress before and after this patch will be rendered as undesirable. Before because of the reason stated above, and after because... well... good luck killing Empress Cygnus and her instructors now.

Or in Global's case...deleted.

And because I'd probably need a whole month's salary just to get equips to make my Phantom strong enough to boss in a party...oh em gee, guess who's not going to do that since I can quit while I'm ahead!? Even if they added an option to add potential to your old equips that's still going to be unacceptable because that's even more money down the drain to beat the SAME bosses, new difficulty level be damned.
Would anyone be interested in seeing how drastic these changes on equips are after this patch? I have a perfect empress knuckle and wanted to see if anyone would care if I made a video/posted pics on how it changes up the item/my range once this patch hits.

I wanna see even though my items are crappy.

Are we even certain that existing items will be changed?

Not, and I'm pretty sure that those equipment would require some $$ to be changed even if it's possible.
Hanabira.Kage Wrote:

Well I'm assuming they will because item's that were in your inventory before this update got changed. Also what you were wearing were changed. Then again, this is KMST. but yeah if it does change i'll be posting pics/videos

wait, changed how, explain please? unless you just mean the karma thinguie

He means prior items got the random potential even though they were not picked up as stated in the patch notes.
Curtiss Wrote:He means prior items got the random potential even though they were not picked up as stated in the patch notes.

If that is true, then maybe there is some hope. Can't wait to see all my gear have the worst possible bonus stats in existence.
CrazyForDex Wrote:If that is true, then maybe there is some hope. Can't wait to see all my gear have the worst possible bonus stats in existence.

I think that will be true of most people. The suspense leading up to the 29th sure is something!

All of my warrior gear will have +INT!

I'm predicting my Archer gear will have + accuracy and INT! Biggrin
