Texas & Louisiana do not want to be part of the US

Uh... because they currently do belong to it and have to follow its laws in order to secede without war. @Jamesie said that it would be difficult to secede, not that it would be difficult to get along after having already seceded and become independent.

Although, as you point out, that would be true too.

Texas threatens to secede like every other month, it's just a part of the culture here. I don't really think it possible, but then again it is possible.

My main point was, if they are willing to go as far as that, they will already be prepared to go to war over it.

I wish Texas really would secede.

Not only would it mean the death of the Republican Party as they'll never get a president elected again, we wouldn't have them controlling what gets into our school textbooks, and we might actually advance as a country.

But alas, it won't happen.

Excuse me, Texas is quite successful. Even though I hate to admit it, Texas is a well off compared to the rest of the states. Politics and culture are a bit behind, but you'd be shocked at how liberal some places are.

I remember reading something about texas being self sustained as far as energy goes as well. Texas is kind of a big deal. Even though I hate to admit it. They could totally do this, but it doesn't work for the country.

We wouldn't wage war with them. I'm sure they would hate another Alamo.

The people continuing to discuss this after it's already been established to be little better than a prank with no actual government interest or support from either state are idiots.
