I think it's a given that Japan programs and exports more video games than anyone else in the world. All the good stuff is released in Japan before America.
However, I read about their school system. Between regular school and juku (cram schools) they're supposedly in school like all day and then they do homework a lot.
Something doesn't sound right, because if they're in school that much, how do they have all this time for video games?

Well... There are a lot of kids who don't attend Jukus and there are a lot of kids/adults that they call NEETs, who don't go to school or work. Remember, High School isn't necessary in Japan. It's required that you pay a tuition to attend High School. However, many kids still attend it anyway. The kids who do go to schools and Juku find other times to play. My friend, tomo, moved back to Japan after living in America for some time. He fell into the American laziness and when he got back to Japan, he did nothing but play MapleStory with us from 5am his time until about 9pm his time. However, he had to quit for a few months because he had to study a mass amount of material so he could graduate middle school and apply for his high school preliminary exams (yeah, you have to pass a certain bar in Japan to be able to go to high school. I wish it were like that here in America...). He was gone from about October and just came back to Maple on Monday morning in Japan. Every day he gets to play Maple for only one to two hours and then studies for the rest of the time. However, right now he only has to catch up on his kokugo, so he doesn't have to do much. Lol
Yeah... They find ways to get around their studies.

Every country/government does what's best (in their opinion) for their country to rake in money from other countries. A perfect example are tourist cities. Egypt puts a lot of effort in showing off the Giza plateaus, Europe is entangled in a giant railroad to take people from one country to another. There's also importing and exporting goods. Since Japan is 'known' for their technologies, gaming and animu, it would make sense that they spent so much time developing their goods and products despite the fact not many Japanese people actually use the product. Like how modern Egyptians don't bother to spend lots of money to tour the pyramids; it's a tourist attraction for the sake of nation profit from other countries.
