Well, since my goal is to become a merchant by the time Auction House comes out, what happens to ores simply don't matter that much anymore.
By the time the auction house arrives, chances are I already have a hefty amount of mesos, ready to start merchanting.
The beauty of merchanting is that you don't have only one ship to be on. You can jump from one to the other.
