Sounds about right. I'm on EST, so it's a bit confusing for me as well, but I think you got it right.

I'll tell you what I learned from maple, learn your own timezone and then keep in mind PST= -8 UTC and PDT= -7 UTC, so lets say your timezone is +4 UTC then you're 12(11 on daylight saving) hours ahead of maple server that is located on the west coast of the states.

not when someone is looking at a circular clock that's only marked up to 12. its really a tradeoff

It's not hard it's just an extra step.

Military time is useful for measuring deadlines too, when you see 22 and you know the event ends at midnight, you know you have <2 hours left.
