And would having both hot time and RED not be a bigger incentive than one or the other?

"Hot Days were put in place to incentivize people to play.
RED is serving as that incentive right now. There's no need for hot days."

Yes, hot time =/= hot days, but they both serve the same purpose, and people WILL continue to stay on longer for peaking as often as they would a hot time since people who would want the hot time would come on at the time its announced, so will the people who do hot days. The only difference is people who would already be unable to log on for a hot time would still be able to on a hot day. Nobody is going to leave their job or school early for a hot time, and thats why hot days exist. They bring in nearly the same amount of people but are more lenient for the people who naturally wouldnt make it.

Lot's of people work on the weekend or have other priorities. Many people play in different time zones.

I personally hate them because even when I'm free to log on during those time periods, they cause tons of technical issues including massive lag.

[Update 12/10] We confirmed that numerous players either received no rewards or partial rewards when opening the Hot Time box on December 7. We will be delivering the missing items to you during the December 12 maintenance.

When the December 7 Hot Time event boxes were able to be opened, a safety feature was included with them. If too many people were trying to claim the rewards at once, after a few seconds, when the reward queue was confirmed to be full, a message from would appear asking you to please try again later. However, there have been some reports of the message not appearing when the box was opened, resulting in the Hot Time box disappearing. We will be looking into this issue over the weekend.
