Coffee growers' strike in Colombia

I wasn't aware of this until today when I got into a cab and radio people were talking about it.
When I got home, I googled stuff trying to find out why it is happening and then stumbled with this:

In the central province of Huila, 30 people have been injured so far, including one of the strikers who lost a hand.

Not a problem in Seattle WA, people are so addicted to coffee here that they are willing to spend upwards of $140 a week for it.
