Now Consider the multiplication of that sum for the price of the cube in nx/dolar Now Consider how big that number is. And now consider that cube they gave away its a potential cube they could have sold. Food for thought: Free to play games with the kinds of transaction could actually be worst than actual drug dealers. Why? Because what they (The Free to play companies not the dealers ) are doing its legal and they practically have a Unlimited Stock that doesnt run out... EVER... I feel sorry for the people that get Hooked up to this kind of game. (At least like games like maple that has a retarded Money Sink system like potential)

Sure you're saying that the cubes they've given away are potentially ones people were going to buy. But consider the types of players that used those cubes and how it affects them: - Ones that never buy any nx anyways and don't care if they got the cubes or not -----Small amount of people who truly don't want any NX and don't want better equips. - Ones that wants nx to cube, but don't have the means to obtain NX -----Large amount of people, who now had a taste, now wants NX even more. (Now maybe more incentive for Birthday, XMAS, or just bug parents more or finally cave to spend their own money) - Ones that cubes anyways -----Already NX whore, one extra cube, whooptieedoo

But its obvious they dont care about any "Potential Lost" from gifting these cubes, otherwise they would not have done so.

Someone cubes an item with good stats -> turns crap -> buys cubes to make up for the lost damage.

"They dont care about it" covers various possibilities like the following two:
-The amount of profit they would made from that single cube its negligible. (Hardly) -The did this in order to try and get some people to hook up on miracle like drugs. (The most possible one)

I'm so addicted now. Just have to buy another 100 cubes to get my item to Epic now.

Potential loss < Potential Gain.
It would have been smarter to actually give maybe 2 or 3. You don't really see the effects of what they can do with just one. They also could have allowed accounts created after the maintenance to get them, with that they could buffer their number of accounts registered for virtually no cost, but that's only if they wanted more numbers.

I understand how the "we are losing money by doing this" argument works, which is the same argument used against piracy and any number of other things, but when it all comes down to it, if they really made quality improvements to the game that were fair and balanced, they would get the same if not more money coming in if they regularly gave out free stuff. Most people that pirate wouldn't have bothered with the item if it wasn't free anyway; no lost sale. The same logic applies here. All of it adds up to the fact that certain important executives don't -really- understand how the market works, so they are blaming the consumer instead of becoming more competent. |
