On a strictly real-world note: I had to make voice actor changes cause a few characters were not available anymore. This led me to create a whole new cast with the exception of my character of Michea (because I work cheap and I am easy to schedule for recordings). Yet, because I carried myself over, there is that nagging question of where this series coincides with the other series.
Because of this, I AM planning on acknowledging the previous series, reintroducing at least one character around episode 4 or 5. To explain, the NLS takes place about 2 years after the original series and after an event that broke the original team apart. This event/fight/misunderstanding will never be explained fully but it will form the basis of Michea's fear of being left behind.
Enter Jackson. Though you might know him as DB or Dustbunny, or DeBunnie - when asking Matt, the voice of the character for other possible names years ago, the name Jack came up. While it was a bit too standard for the fantasy world I was crafting back then, the more grown-up name clearly fits the new, more battle-worn character now. A lot has happened in the last two years and while Michea is still pretty much the same, Jackson has gone through some changes. When thinking about it, I am reminded of when Batman's Robin grew up into Nightwing.
Anyway, it will be a while till you see him in the toon, but since I drew the model, I thought it would be nice to share.

Anyway, what you see here is a possible set up for the three characters to meet again and a little back story. If you can't figure it out, Ephasia got on the wrong end of the whole event two years ago and there is still some blame floating around. What happened? I doubt I will ever answer that cause it isn't important to the new story.
And yes, poor Ephasia is blind.
