hey there. Im afraid something might be wrong with my Dual Blade. Im worried that his SP might be screwed up, and some other questions about how DBs work.
Right now at lvl 63, my SP distribution looks like this;
1st;
16/20 Nimble Body
3/10 Disorder
10/10 Dark Sight
0/20 Double Stab
1st+;
20/20 Katara Mastery
0/10 Triple Stab
20/20 Katara Booster
2nd;
20/20 Self Haste
30/30 Fatal Blow
20/20 Slash Storm
2/20 Sadow Resistance

1/5 Tornado Spin
0/20 Flashbang
20/20 Flash Jump
I got to lvl 55 when DBs were first released. I used the option to start at level 30, which is why I didnt take any points in Double Stab or Triple Stab because I already could get fatal blow and slash storm. Maxed booster is weird, I know. Back when I made my Db I didnt have any place to put the points into. What is the ideal DB sp build at lvl 70, and going past that level? I can't find any guides for Dual Blades post big bang.
My other questions pertain to Tornado Spin. This ability really confuses me, but ive been trying to use it in game. It is sort of like Rush and Final Charge put together. Im supposed to press a direction key twice, and then press my attack key to make it work?
How exactly does it work in conjunction with Flying Assaulter?
I saw this line in the Flying Assaulter skill description;
Lv.10 effect: Lv.20 Tornado Spin can be used with Lv.10 Bloody Storm
What does that mean? Does that mean I can use Tornado Spin, Bloody Storm, AND Flying Assaulter in one go?
Do I have to have level 20 tornado spin to use Tornado Spin with Flying Assaulter? Will my botched SP distribution mess this up?
Can I use level 20 Slash Storm with flying assaulter, or does it HAVE to be bloody storm? And if it has to be bloody storm, does it HAVE to be level 10 for me to use it in conjunction?

For Tornado Spin, when you use with Flying Assaulter, press the normal attack key after FA to use tornado. It HAS to be bloody storm, and it HAS to be level 10 (same for tornado).
Also, Fatal Blow isn't worth maxing anymore thanks to Upper Stab being buffed. When Chaos comes, we will get free SP resets. You can reset your SP.

You'd ideally have no points in Fatal Blow, maxed Shadow Mastery, and points saving up to raise Flying Assaulter (if you can get the book, at least 10 points), Upper Stab, and Bloody Storm.
When you hit those requirements for Flying Assaulter/Tornado Spin/Bloody Storm, you get a much smaller delay when using them in succession. Without it, there's a gigantic delay between trying to use Flying Assaulter into Bloody Storm for example.

i am not sure, but didn't NB stay at 8 points?
and as has been said, you want to save as many points as possible during 2+ to max Flying assaulter and Bloody Storm asap. and if i remember well, when you reach 120, if you didn't put a single point in double/triple stab, you should be able to max every 2, 2+ and 3 skill.

Sounds like my DB is more messed up than I originally thought =/
Can someone give me an SP build for a dual blade from 1 to 120? It sounds like my current Db is just too far gone to fix with a few Sp resets. Also, any ETA on when Chaos is supposed to hit GMS? I hope they give us a complete SP reset.

jump to point VI: perfectionist build. and honestly, chaos is (somewhat) around the corner, you can simply wait it out to fix everything, and keep training. they'll most probably hand out SP resets, considering DB's lose and change some moves.

The only thing really "wrong" with your build is fatal blow. Its next to completely useless, upperstab completely replaces this skill really. With fatal blow out of the picture, you can max practically every skill possible. Shadow resistance besides the hp being a bonus has the ability to avoid status effects like seduce, poison, etc, its useful. You can take off SP from owl spirit to stick into your missing 2nd job SP if you really don't feel like starting over which isn't hard to do. Also tornado spin is useless until 3rd job no point sticking in SP for no reason really, I hate it off-firing on me a lot too.
3rd job greatest damage boost build should be:
10 Flying Assaulter
10 Bloody Storm
Max Mirror Image
Max Flying Assaulter
Max tornado spin
Max Upper stab
then just stick in your sp where ever you want, but make sure to save enough sp to max advanced dark sight.
From experience, I think most mobs die easily from just a simple 1 or 2 FA + BS combo at early lvls. Upperstab is more of a longer duration high end DPS for me. The fact that I have to jump into mobs and bounce around sometimes from long range attacks is kind of annoying. Its something you'd start using more often when you deal with LHC (or LKC) mobs, that's not until at least lvl 110 though.
About the 4th job build, I guess I'm laughing away like JoeTang as well. But since the TS only asked about lvls 1-120, this is good enough.

edit: If TS still doesn't understand about FA + TS or FA + BS combo. For TS you need to max it and use at least lvl 10 FA to combo it together (30 sp). You just press the attack key after FA like someone else mentioned already. For FA + BS you just press it one after the other, must be lvl 10 FA and lvl 10 BS (at max lvl and only 20 sp cost in full). JoeTang already explained the delays for FA + BS.

What should I max now then for my last skill? I figured Tornado Spin would be best for max efficiency with Bloody Storm and Flying Assaulter, that just means Ill have to pick up the rest of Shadow Resistance later in 3rd job.
How big is the difference in DPM between spamming Upper Stab and Chains of Hell at bosses? To be completely honest, I dont like spamming Upper Stab mindlessly :x its not exactly the coolest looking skill to watch, and spamming it makes the dual blade look like a spazz on a sugar high. I was under the impression that the highest DPM for a dual blade pre-big bang was chains of hell, so what is the DPM difference between the two at a boss like zakum or HT?

If you follow what I gave you, you will have maxed tornado spin within 3rd job. Most mobs in your early 3rd job days dies so easily anyways you don't need tornado spin (its weaker than bloody storm anyways) much at all. Some people like spamming Upperstab in 3rd job days instead of using Flying Assaulter + Bloody Storm or Tornado Spin. Maxing Tornado Spin before 3rd job is useless really and you should be saving SP instead to your 3rd job skills. Flying Assaulter + Tornado Spin is usually best combined with Upperstab once you send all your mobs to the corner but usually by then they're already almost all dead so theres no point in rushing them all to the corner.

I'm not a math expert, so I can't give you any DPM numbers, someone else can do that. In the time frame that you pull off 1 CoH its about the same as using 3-4 US. DPM wise if all are ideal situations, CoH vs US is nearly the same except that CoH requires more effort if you want the best DPM. That means CoH can't be spammed 24/7 and you must always be in dark sight at all times to use CoH and you must keep track of times when your dark sight doesn't come off thanks to advanced DS for the best possible DPM with CoH. If you're too lazy to do any of that or can't keep up with the timing, just don't bother with using it at bosses if you ask me. The only thing its good for is the invincibility frames while in animation. Its already a pain in the ass to use at any bosses that dispels at you.

I can't really tell you what to do as far as your build. Mine is slightly unconventional since I was already fourth job upon the skill reset from Big Bang.
I find Chains of Hell to be flat out annoying to use. Especially at bosses that dispel. I'd rather look like a spaz spamming Upper Stab than have chains glitching randomly across the screen and not doing anything. I don't have the damage calculation, nor do I care to find it with Chaos being so close. And with it glitching all the time with dispel, you might not really get an accurate one anyway. I'm just thankful we'll finally have a fourth job mob skill(without a cooldown) and a single-target skill(that isn't a pain to use) after Chaos.
