Problems With Playing Back Music Files
#1
I recently purchased a new laptop... Here are the general specifications:

Name: Sony Vaio EA Series
OS: Windows 7 (64-Bit)
Processor: i3 (The i5 I wanted was out of stock everywhere I went, so I gave in to the i3)

Due to the SATA drive dying, among the other problems my old laptop had, I lost everything. Long story short, I did not have time to create a back-up and I have spent the last week re-downloading all of the music I owned. I noticed after playing mp3 files on Windows Media Player that it would not save the "Repeat" setting, even if it was checked on the menu. Sometimes, it would save the setting, but play the mp3 a few times before stopping.

I use iTunes to organize my music files better, but that too has caused me a few problems. First of all, similar to Windows Media Player, it will sometimes save the "Repeat" setting, whether on "Repeat One" or "Repeat All". Secondly, when I attempt to add album art, even if I select every song in the album, it will apply the cover to 90% of the tracks. iTunes randomly skips 1-4 tracks on each album in a non-numerical order. The images I use aren't large, and I make sure to upload them from my drive than just copying and pasting from the Internet.

Lastly, at exactly 17 seconds into some of the songs, the track repeats the beginning of the song and then continues until the end. I'm very picky about the music I download. I make sure everything I own is 320kbps or in flac (if available) and I have a program that tells me the true quality and encoding of every song, just in case someone "upped" the bitrate from 192kbps to 320kbps, for example. I have downloaded the same files on my old laptop(s) and I have never had these problems. I even ripped one of my own CDs and iTunes still had a problem with it.

I'm not sure how I could fix these problems... I've re-installed Windows Media Player and iTunes, but it still acts strangely. I haven't messed with the iTunes Preferences file and I don't have any virues/trojans, either. If someone could help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Poast
