Error 8100030d and 810003a8
#1
 OLD, INACCURATE STUFF
OKAY. My email is broken. I changed computers with no success. I also tested an alternate e-mail, both on my main and other computers, with success.

WHAT DO
#2
I installed 2011 and my 2009 still pops up lmao. Anyways, I'd just uninstall and reinstall. If that doesn't work. Downgrade to 2010 or 2009. Live Messenger 2011 is kinda buggy imo.
#3
Are you behind a Firewall hardware or software and does your router/switch support UPnP connections?
#4
@Azure: Yeah, I've tried reinstalling as well. Eh, but if nothing works, I'll upgrade(lol) to 2010 or 2009 version.

@Jamie: The error just happened today, kinda randomly, actually. I doubt it's my firewall or anti-virus blocking it. And I'm not sure what you mean by UPnP. =|
#5
UPnP is a system to dynamically open ports on a router when applications request they be opened, rather than having a list of open ports in place.
#6
Well, I'm fairly sure that my router does support UPnP. Maybe some files got corrupted? The link I posted above says the following:

Quote:This Error occurs because of either one of the following reasons:
1. Contact cache store might be corrupted
2. Firewall software is blocking Windows Live Messenger connection
If #1 is true, then what's a possible fix for this? :f6:

Edit: Replaced it with 2009 version. It gives me the same error. >_>;;

Try this:

You have to delete any previous cashe from other versions of Live Messenger basically.

Alternatively if it still gives you problems... this this little bugger.

Still having problems.

And for some reason, my contact list is invisible in that program. That also happened on eBuddy. Ugh. <_<;;

Edit: What the-- I attempted WLM2011 on my alternate username and it gave me an error.. 810003a8? Odd.

I've had this same problem before, but it was like a year ago. Try these one at a time:

1. Unplug your router. Then replug it back in.
2. Or Reset your router by holding the small button in for a few seconds until the lights blink. If your router is named to something, this may return the name to default.
3. go to command prompt and do ipconfig/release then type ipconfig/renew.
4. Make sure all saved info regarding live messenger sing-in is deleted. Such as remembered email/pass/logs *This is what messed mine up and made my buddy-list invisible last time*
5. If none of these work, then it's your ISP I think. They might be going through some kind of maintenance or something. So, it'll probably start working tomorrow or the next day.

On very rare instances your ports may mess up if there is another program using the same port as live messenger. So mess with port connections if all else fails.

Okay first lets get the basics here so we can better understand the source of the issue:

1. Operating system in use?
2. Type of internet connection (DSL, Cable, Dial-Up, Satellite, etc.)?
3. Brand of modem/router/switch/hub in usage on your network (if applicable)?
4. Type of Anti-Virus and Firewall software in usage (list all including Anti-Malware services)?
5. Error code history (if you can recall them all)?
#11
Some funny (well not funny...) error I once had in MSN Messenger was that I couldn't sign on because my DATE (in windows) was set wrong. Maybe you should check it... who knows... Smile
#12
Update: I feel like I've tried literally everything here. I'm more than convinced I either have something corrupted, or it's my ISP.

AzureKite Wrote:1. Unplug your router. Then replug it back in. Nope.
2. Or Reset your router by holding the small button in for a few seconds until the lights blink. If your router is named to something, this may return the name to default. I probably shouldn't do that.
3. go to command prompt and do ipconfig/release then type ipconfig/renew. No luck.
4. Make sure all saved info regarding live messenger sing-in is deleted. Such as remembered email/pass/logs *This is what messed mine up and made my buddy-list invisible last time* Everything's removed. Not working.
5. If none of these work, then it's your ISP I think. They might be going through some kind of maintenance or something. So, it'll probably start working tomorrow or the next day. Seems likely.
Answers bolded.

1. Windows 7 Home Edition. French (loliwanttochangeittoenglish)
2. Cable, I believe. We can do wireless with the router/modem(?) as well.
3. D-Link.
4. avast! Antivirus, Windows Defender(I believe that's a default program), and I guess I'm using the default firewall. I doubt it's blocking MSN, though.
5. If you mean Windows Live Messenger's error codes: 8100030d, 810003a8.

Still not working after making sure the date and time is perfect.

Sigh. Getting close to giving up here.

Edit: If this gives any extra information, I do believe my family is able to connect. Although I'm not 100% sure, at this moment.
Edit2: Not good. Not good at all. I signed on to a different computer, that I know ebuddy works with my email. Once again, my contacts are invisible. What the hell is going on?
Edit3: Same goes for Messenger while checking emails. Ugh. Maybe my email broke. Who knows.
#13
If you signed onto a different computer and the same thing happened. Then it has to be ISP. Unless the sole problem is confined to your email alone. Which doesn't make sense, since msn/hotmail site is working fine. One last thing to suggest is run as administrator. Also maybe change the compatibility mode option to xp or vista. Seems like it's unique to windows 7 for you.
#14
I made a new e-mail and am able to chat just fine. *shrugs*
#15
Late bump:

E-mail starts working again. Mysteriously. I didn't do anything special. So I suppose it was a temporary problem, similar to Azure's "it's your ISP wait a few days" opinion.

Two words that can describe my feelings

Thanks for trying to help, guys. Requesting lock. Problem resolved. Or rather, problem undone.
