Why doesn't he keep pieces of metal with him all the time to use as his weapons? Why trust that your enemy will bring a metal weapon to you?
Why does magnetic fields work on metals that are not magnetic (like aluminium)? Why is that dub so bad? Why is this version so dumb?

Magneto would only be able to really control ferromagnetic or paramagnetic materials (not all metals and metal oxides fit into this cathegory). Diamagnetic materials would only be able to be pulled away and would require a tremendous magnetic field (though if you can freely control the field lines of your magnetic field you could pretty much do anything but that would break Magneto, in that he could control basically anything: gases, plastic, aluminium, etc).
