Adv. Dark Aura
#1
So, I have lv3 Adv. Dark Aura now, and I'm quite surprised by the DoT effect it has... namely

1) It definitely isn't 46% damage per second... My damage range is awful for my level (100%'d EW, etc) yet I'm doing 6.5-11k with the DoT tick. I assumed the range would be 0.46*1.3*dRange but even the minimum seen results would be on par with the maximum expected damage for lv30 Adv. Aura (not to mention the huge range between min and max). I've seen damage ticks around 250% of my max range...
2)The DoT actually applying to a monster is rather sporadic. It usually takes a few seconds to kick in and even then it'll only usually go about 4 ticks before it stops (it can stop at 1 as well though, seems random). Each tick is the same amount of damage as the previous, at least for the current application. Why it stops, I don't know, but it'll start working again after a few seconds. Also, moving out of range of the monster WILL NOT cancel the effect (though of course it's only going for 4 seconds anyways).
3) Whether or not the damage is actually done seems random as well... I've allowed several ticks to be applied to an enemy, only to poke it and see it at full health. It's buddy right next to it dies with a single poke... this I don't get. Damage being done or not seems to be determined in the first tick, and will follow throughout the duration until reapplication (so up to 4 ticks in a row, depending on when it stops and re-applies).

Since I only have lv3 and I applied all of the points at the same time, I can't really say how one point affects the damage of the DoT effect yet. Has anyone else noticed anything different about that part of the skill? So far all 3 auras seem to have some unintended quirks, would kinda like to know what I'm dealing with here, since I'm maxing Adv. Dark Aura first.

I've noticed some really "off" DoT damages from it since 1st SP into it. I'm really wondering how the formula for it goes..

Just did a few simple tests right now up at Lycanthropes & Werewolves and it seems...

1. MW seems to affect the DoT damage
2. Bless's MA seems affect the DoT damage
3. Body Boost Dark Aura's +% boost seems to affect it
4. Magic Defense buff on monster's affects DoT damage

The formula, min range x 130% Battle Mastery x (100% + Adv. Dark Aura DoT %), seems to fit the minimum DoT seen. However, the max DoT seen using this formula(using max range of course) is off quite a bit..

9142 ~ 12189 range with the following buffs
Max Bless (+15 MA)
Maple Warrior level 19: +10% all base stats
Max Battle Mastery: +30% damage, +20% Minimum Critical Damage
Max Body Boost: Dark Aura: +40% for 60 seconds.
Advanced Dark Aura level 25: +19% damage done, 90% DoT per sec on nearby enemies
--> DoT range: ~22-32k

6831 ~ 9108 range
Max Bless (+15 MA)
Maple Warrior level 19
Max Battle Mastery
Advanced Dark Aura level 25
--> DoT range: ~16-28k

6293 ~ 8390 range
Max Bless
Max Battle Mastery
Advanced Dark Aura level 25
--> DoT range: ~14-26k

6369 ~ 8492 range
Maple Warrior level 19
Max Battle Mastery
Advanced Dark Aura level 25
--> DoT range: ~14-27k

8421 ~ 11228 range
Max Bless
Max Battle Mastery
Max Body Boost
Advanced Dark Aura level 25
--> DoT range: ~20-31k

8526 ~ 11365 range
Maple Warrior level 19
Max Battle Mastery
Max Body Boost
Advanced Dark Aura level 25
--> DoT range: ~20-31k

I'm pretty sure anything that modifies your range will modify the damage output of the skill, though I hadn't thought to test on m.def up enemies. It's nice to see the damage scale like that for when I fix my gear and get an EStaff, but have you noticed the other two issues with the aura as well? It wouldn't be the first time Nexon made a funky damage formula that turned out to do quite a bit more damage than expected (old se + barrage on stunned enemies, for example) but issues with the DoT falling off or taking a while to re-apply, as well as no damage being done randomly (despite the visuals of the skill working properly) are strange.

It seems the DoT tick only activates when Advanced Dark Aura is casted/auto re-casted. I notice Auras recast themselves every 4-5 seconds, so that probably explains why it's a delayed start up.

As for the effect going off after a few seconds when you're out of range, I would assume it's to work like Poison Mist for FP. Basically the area around your character is the Poison Mist fog itself, except that the DoT lasts a much shorter duration than Poison Mist; ~4-5 seconds.

Don't think I've seen it stop after 1 tick so far..

I'd have to recheck if the damage applied 100% of the time or not.. but it seemed like it did for me.

EDIT: Just checked, it's applying 100% of the time for me so far. I checked with the HP bar showing on Lycan/WWs as well, the HP dropped from DoT.
