My theory on the plot so far.

So far the blackwings have gone through 2 of the 3 doors in the temple of time in hopes to bring destruction to the world.


First they went through the door to the past, which they tried to summon the black mage from the goddess mirror, but instead brought out pinkbean by mistake.

The second door they went through lead them to the future to where The black mage's rien is supreme as he even corrupted Empress cygnus and all of the knights. This means that so far 2 timelines have been corrupted by his influence.

If the middle door leads to the center of time of the present, which could may or may not lead to where the goddess sleeps. This is probably the last and final area to where you may fight the black mage before he tries to awaken the goddess of time thus ending the supposed dream that holds the world together. The Keeper of Memories in Time lane: Memory keeper's room said that their entire exsistance may be the current exsisting dream of the time goddess, and if she were to awaken, everything would dissapear.

So theres a small chance that the black mage's ultimate goal is to corrupt all the timeframes to bring about chaos and to finaly awaken the goddess, thus destroying everything in exsistance.

Spadow said that the black mage himself corrupted cygnus and her followers, not the black wings.

What if the Black Mage's objective is to absorb the Goddess of Time into himself, thus allowing him to become the God of Time and by default the world? If the Goddess of Time is powerful enough to create or destroy the world...the Black Mage would then be able to control the world as he wishes, perhaps even create a new world after destroying the current one...a new world where he reigns supreme.

No. He said if Black Mage comes back, then he'll waken the goddess or something. And when she wakens, the time guys, who are a dream, will stop existing.

Just FYI I'm pretty sure Nexon is making pomegranate up and really has no plan for the Black Mage story yet.

I had to laugh at Ob3lisk's comment because that is exactly what I was thinking.

Look what Nexon did to the Yeti in NLC, Cake Hill or w/e they call it? They threw away a great opportunity for a great plotline right there.

As far as I know they are trying to reawaken the Black Mage. So I'm guessing they need something within the ToT for that? Maybe go in the past and undo his defeat? Idk. Sounds plausible.

Maybe we don't get to fight the black mage at all, maybe when the black mage goes to where the time goddess is she'll just vaporize him (some sort of power while she is still sleeping) and the fight will be trying to undo whatever mess up the black mage did so the world doesn't get destroyed.

I agree more with OB3LISK's comment, I'm pretty sure nexon is just randomly pulling things out of their.....and we're just putting the "pieces" together into what resembles a story.

I don't think so, Maple really does have a plot, and some of the "pieces" do fit together really well, like the random unrelated Magatia quests suddenly explaining the origins of the Black Mage and becoming a part of the overall plot.

I think Nexon does have an overall plan for the Black Mage story, but most of it is people complaining because the Black Mage hasn't been released as a boss yet.

We still have all the doors in the time temple to explore before fighting the Black Mage even becomes a possibility, what is wrong with them adding more plot? people would complain if they suddenly added the Black Mage as a boss and didn't give it any back story first

if the goddess made EVERYTHING that exists in the maple world, its only logical to assume that the dark mage is her evil 'conscience' or her 'nightmare'

Sadly, several things lead me to believe that this is true, as well.

I wish Maple had a more complex story than it does. And that the developers finally stopped randomly pulling things out of THEIR ........ and finally make a decent story.

Like, I know that Maple is a childish game and all. But really. I had hoped the Edelstein quests would've been more epic and all, especially those of Verne Mine, being the Black Wings' hideout and all.

They really looked like a bunch of text written by a 12 year old guy.

The Resistance ones might be A LITTLE more interesting, but that's it. The storyline isn't as complex and SERIOUS as I thought. Hell, many of the NPCs in the Black Wings' hideout are just.. "funny" (ridiculous). Especially their requests.
