Gmail forwarding

Not entirely sure what its called, but what Im talking about is the system where you send an email to a gmail account with a tag (for example, [SouthPerry]), and then gmail automatically reads the tag, and forwards it out to a sending list for you.

I've been asked to configure a church email account in that manner, but I have no idea how to go about doing it, and I dont normally use gmail, so...yeah X_X Anyone have guidance on how I go about doing this?

they're called filters.

Basically you have to set the filter to automatically forward e-mails sent meeting a criteria, sender, or list of variables. GMail has a Tutorial on it if I'm not mistaken.
