The items in question are the following:

This is what happens when I take the shoe off.

In order to put the shoe back on, I need more luk. I use MW to accomplish this.

When I turn off MW, I can somehow still wear the staff and the shoes.

Does anyone know how this works? Because for the longest time, I have been unable to replicate this effect on Harrisonized.

Your shoe adds luk and your staff adds luk. While that +luk gives you the correct amount, you can't be holding something that gives you the amount you need.

The shoe and the staff have different LUK requirements. The shoe needs 103 LUK, and the staff needs 105 LUK. The way I've observed the game to work is that an even lower LUK requirement item must make the LUK go up to 103 regardless before the shoe can be worn. So both items must be unwearable once the MW is turned off, because there is nothing to support the shoe, and without the LUK on the shoe, the staff can't be supported either.
Yet it doesn't. MW can be turned off and the character can proceed as normal. The only way the shoe can be worn is by counting LUK from the staff towards the LUK requirement for the shoe, which would defy the game mechanics.

I used to do it all the time on my CB before he had a scarlion.
The equips can support each other because they're a different level.
My CB had a 12 DEX pair of china pants and 1 DEX china top(lv50), 7 DEX earrings, and silver identity(lv60) with 5 DEX on it.
But was 2 DEX or so short of using the pants, so I had to borrow my friend(Beg on SP)'s 10 DEX gold earrings to equip the pants, then the hat would show up with it. The earrings would be able to be switched, keeping the other equips usable.
Edit; so it's easier:
With china set+7 DEX earrings, I'd have 97~98 total DEX.
With the hat too I'd have 102~103 total DEX, even though the hat is 5 DEX, and requires 100 to use.

To equip an item, all the other items besides the one you're trying to equip must give you the needed stat to at least the requirement.
So say on a gunslinger, you want to equip the lvl 90 set with 80 str. Your current gear gives you 92 str. To change an item to the lvl 90 set, you need to make sure the str does not dip below 90 without that item. So you can change your shoe that gives 2 str, but not your overall that gives 3, because that gives 89 str, and you don't have enough stats. If your new shoe gives 3 str, then you can equip the overall. Even though you're using the bonuses from each lvl 90 item to equip all the lvl 90 items, all the game checks for is if with all the other items worn plus the base adds up to over the requirement, then you can equip it.

It's worth noting that potential bonuses on your item will allow you to keep that same item on if the potential bonuses give enough that you can equip the... equip. I'm no good with words, so here's my example.
I have a level 50 dexless bandit. With about half of his equips on he has 53 dex. 53 dex allows him to equip a Blue Sneak I found that has 2 base dex, and 4 dex from its potential. When I equip it I go up to 59 dex. When I unequip my Deputy star (chaos scrolled, 10 str, 6 dex) I go down to 53 dex with the Blue Sneak still equipped. The Blue Sneak's own potential bonus keeps it equipped. Neato, huh? ^_^

This is really the easiest way to describe it.
If the item is equipped, and (total stat - item's stat) is larger than the requirement, it's allowed to be equipped.
Sometimes you can get things that really shouldn't work. Like my NL's bottom has 120 req +18 dex, and top/claw have 130 req and 8/7 dex. Total dex is 138. So without the 3 equips, total dex is 105. Fortunately any 2 of the equips offers enough dex to equip the third. And despite the fact that none of the 3 can be equipped with 105 dex, this actually works. But reset one point of dex, and the bottom+claw would only get to 129 total dex, and the top wouldn't be able to be equipped anymore.
Of course, there's a bit of a problem being 15 dex below the requirement when you go to put your gear on. You can't simultaneously equip multiple items. I think I had a 10 dex cape and relied on MW20 (+5 dex) to cover it, then once they were equipped I could switch to a luk cape and didn't need MW anymore.

This is the reason why i keep my +12 dex alien dagger so i can equip the entire level 80 set + weapon and khanjar.

The simple way to say it is that they can support each other, not themselves. So your staff has enough luk that your shoe can be equipped and vice versa.
