Sonic 4
#1
So i just got it and It's exactly like the promises said it to be.
Old gen feel
New Gen look
Plays really well and excluding the casino levels it's been a pretty good game (currently replaying in an attempt to get all Chaos emeralds)

Not much to say. Anyone else get it or is planning to get it? What do you expect/have encounter that you liked or disliked?

I don't think I'm going to get it.
I realized that it's much more repetitive than maple.
They're all the same thing pretty much. Run right. /end

The only kind of sonic games I still enjoy are Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Especially 2. Now THAT game was awesome.

I'm not going to start on Sonic 4.

All I'll say is that although it's a step in the right direction, the game needs reworking.

Grew up with it, so of course I plan on getting 4... Once I have a job again. Granted I was introduced to console gaming via nintendo, but the Genesis was the first console I owned.

I haven't read the reviews on it just yet, but since it is only $15, I have no objections even if it turns out to be a flop like several of the recent iterations have been.

@kremechoko: You must not have a lot of respect for the older games then. Pong is repettiitve. Tetris is repetitive. Space Invaders is repetitive. Sure it wasn't an RPG or a Metroidvania game, but games like Sonic, Mario, and Mega-man were influential steps in video game history. However, to a certain extent I'll agree with you. If it was a $50 dollar game in today's market, I'd be hesitant. Much like how the new Kirby and Donkey Kong games are something I'm looking forward to, yet not really willing to shell out $50 for. In today's market, I feel you need to get a certain hour/$ pre-replay for a game to be worthwhile with the exception of a few factors depending on genre. I mostly just wait for a price drop on such games.

But even after saying that, we are all entitled to our opinions. For example, I personally think the FPS market these days is generally repetitive. Too many are being created just to drag communities in for the same thing with the same people they've already been playing. There's only so many years you can spend playing those sorts of games before you run out of new situations.

Oh don't get me wrong. I love Tetris, Space Invaders, etc.
But this is just one game that doesn't have it's own spice to it (imo).
And kirby..ahh alkjdklfdf
I'd rather not bring that up Confused

KIRBY EPIC YARN IS SO WORTH IT.

Also Sonic has the worst god damn fanbase in the world.

1) complain about new games because it's 'too new'
2) complain about new games made to play like old games because it's 'boring and old'
3) endless cycle.

if you think that the price on kirby and DK are a little steep for the amount of gameplay they offer, doesn't that effectively remove most sidescroller platformers from your list of games to play? o_O

Holy sh'it this game felt awesome to play! I missed this kind of Sonic!

No werewolf transformations to slow me down, no Chip the Beaver or Louie the Temporary Character in this game or weird Wii controls. This game, I like!

Also, that drowning song sure brings back memories. Oh, how I hate that song, even though it's my ringtone. : P

It's a shame since I love the genre, but with the market of downloadable games (vast majority crap, I know) and steam, I've gotten used to getting a good deal. My problem is that with these sorts of games, I can finish them within a rental. Same happened with that 2D Wii Wario game, was fun and everything and I'd like to go back and play it again sometime, I'm just too cheap these days to pay $50 versus $8-$9 for a rental if I wind up completing the whole thing anyway. Blame the economy.

EDIT: And now that I recall that this is an episodic game, I may wind up waiting on it as well.

I give sonic 4 a thumbs up, but then I'd give a thumbs up to all the 2d sonic games involving dimps.

My only problem is it could have been a bit longer. I got all the chaos emeralds + game finished completely in 3 hours tops, and without any other characters playable (read: Tails or Knuckles) there isn't much to go back and redo. Hopefully they do some weird *lock on* stuff with episode 2(or above) that lets you go back and play through the stages with more characters. That is, assuming other people make a reappearance in the next episodes.
