After more than a month of waiting, it's FINALLY here!

Kinda...plain, eh? Not to worry, that's just a paper sleeve.

Let's take it off.



Cool diffraction effect there. You can't really see it clearly in the photo, but the design on the lid is that of a DJ's turntable, with the disc on it marked with the DJMP3 logo.

It's an Artbook and OST. Unfortunately, there's nothing else inside unlike the Black Square Quattro Limited Edition that came packed with goodies like a bandana and foldable portable speakers. Let's look at the artbook for now.



This is artwork from the song "Break!". I flipped through the book and felt this was the nicest one.

There are two discs, and the booklet that comes along with it contains the lyrics to the songs. Most of the songs are in Korean...

I'm loving the girls in the music video for the DJMP3 theme song! The artwork is really good.

Umm...can someone tell me what the card on the left is for? ._.

Some other information:

- There are 5 button modes: 4T, 6T, 3.2T, 4.2T and 6.2T.
- The new .2T modes have players use the analog stick to switch between three lanes throughout the song to hit notes.
- The Auto-Correct system in Black Square and DJ Max Fever has been removed.
- They kept Data Install (duh).
- The Club Tour system from Clazziquai Edition and Black Square was renamed DJ Challenge. Not sure about this since I can't read Korean. x.x
- The original Mission mode is back!
- Ad-Hoc mode has been removed!

Actually, I got the LE just for the OST.

The Artbook's just a bonus.

I was kind of prepared to not get the LE, so it was a pleasant surprise when I got an SMS from the storekeeper saying the stock came in. At 4.41 PM. Weird timing, if you ask me. I stopped by the store around 3.45 PM, and the stock wasn't there yet so I guess it arrived around 4.30 PM.

On a side note, I bumped into my Mathematics teacher on the first floor. x.x

EDIT: Another what the hell moment. I was just asked to choose one of three boxes marked with question marks. Yes, you guessed it; it's a random reward. =.=

I'm not sure whether it's because I leveled up to Lv2, or because I S-ranked the song. Don't get me wrong, this game is EXTREMELY lax about accuracy. It's even less strict than DJMP2. I hit a note quite off the mark, and it still registered as a MAX 100%. The difficulty's on Normal...

EDIT2: As usual, the Stage mode unlocks new songs. The songs are noticeably harder in this version; I managed to get up to x5 FEVER on "Cosmic Fantastic Love Song", a Lv4 song, with just x2.5 Speed. I won't even hit x4 with x2.5 on a Lv9 song in DJMP2 ("Seeker", I'm looking at you). This version is looking VERY nice too. You get a snippet of the Music Video + Song when you stop at a song at the Song Selection Screen.

A few old favourites are back: MASAI, Sunny Side and OUTLAW are a few of them. Heck, even Desperado from Black Square's in there. They're all just remixes though. What the hell, the entire bloody Stage 2 is filled with new songs. How am I supposed to choose?!

Oh yeah, one thing. Like Black Square, you have to unlock the HD/MX modes YOURSELF. They don't come with the NM mode of the song, unlike DJMP2.

EDIT3: Okay, the random reward thing was because I leveled up. Nothing to do with my S-rank. So far, I've seen Avatars, Images and Videos as possible rewards. One thing to note is that playing a song unlocks that song's image.

OMG I SAW WHITEBLUE ON STAGE 3! AND IT'S NOT REMIXED!!

Other old songs (remixed though): Syriana and GET OUT. One old song that was in the MV section of DJMP2 but could not be played until now is NB RANGER: Nonstop Remix. Supersonic (S4 League theme song) from Clazziquai Edition has been remixed. Keys to the World from Black Square's in too. And it's frickin Lv10. Not unlocking it anytime soon...

Nooooooo they removed the long note section of WhiteBlue. D:

It's harder than before though; I'd say it's around x1.2 times as difficult as the old WhiteBlue 4B NM.

Did I mention that for the .2T modes you have to push and HOLD the analog stick in the direction of either side lane while hitting Square, Triangle and Circle to hit the notes? It's probably a whole lot more difficult than 6BFX for the harder songs...

EDIT: I just checked out DJ Challenge mode, and it's nothing like Club Tour. It's more like an alternate Mission Mode with special prizes like Videos and Avatars. You unlock these Missions by levelling up.

It seems that the regular Mission Mode follows a storyline or something. It says stuff like "Training - 4.2T".

Freestyle's obviously still there.

Play Count unlocking is still applicable for certain images and whatnot. I presume it unlocks notes and avatars too.

It might unlock songs that aren't in Stage Mode I think...

EDIT: Pineapple. I HATE having that damn speed change at x4 FEVER. It tends to pop up at times where I don't want it to pop up the MOST.

Funny. There's no bonus song. If you do well for Stage, you're shown the credits screen with small video snippets of the composers and artists fooling around in the studio. If you do badly, you're shown a screen with the DJMP3 logo and the words "Thanks for Playing".

EDIT2: 3.2T is NOT easy. I broke 6 times on a Lv1 song. =.= It takes a LOT of getting used to.

All I have to say is...3.2T gets even more pineappled up.

Alright, so here's how ridiculous it is:

Left Lane ----- Middle Lane ----- Right Lane
Square, Triangle, Circle for each of the three lanes.

Meanwhile, the middle lane has notes dropping on all three damn buttons. It gets pretty damn near humanly impossible, dammit.

Oh yeah, and those damn rainbow notes are back. They're purple now, and they're "open notes" that you hit just by switching lanes at the right time. Problem is, they are a little shorter than they look for some reason or other...

EDIT: Okay, they aren't shorter. They just have a smaller time frame for the initial hit.

EDIT2: Oh yeah, the analog stick thing does a REMIX. LOL! I just played through "Cosmic Fantastic Love Song", and guess what the last purple note did? IT PLAYED THE CHORUS OF "LADYMADE STAR" XD

Okay, I know how to unlock the modes now.

To unlock 3.2T in Freestyle: Clear any song in 3.2T Stage.
To unlock 4.2T in Stage: Clear any song in 3.2T Stage.
To unlock 4.2T in Freestyle: Clear any song in 4.2T Stage.
To unlock 6.2T in Stage: ???
To unlock 6.2T in Freestyle: Clear any song in 6.2T Stage.

The last one's obvious. Unlocking the stage mode of 6.2T isn't though. I'm thinking it'll be similar to unlocking 8B in DJMP2.

EDIT: The Mission Mode doesn't have a storyline. You get a specific reward for completing each of them though. Like Mirror and RANDOM. There aren't any weird tasks like not getting any MAX 1%s or stuff like that. It's like the Club Tour; Score/Combo/Accuracy/Fever/Break requirements. The game keeps track of your currentScore/Combo/Accuracy/Fever/Breaks too; it's on a bar at the bottom of the screen.

EDIT2: I made another mistake! DJ Challenge is not a Mission Mode of any sort. It's a collection of Achievements!

OMG THIS IS EPIC. The Challenge "Multi Player" requires you to clear all songs in 4.2T Stage. Nothing wrong with that, but the reward is a new feature called the 1% Death Effector. YES. IT'S JUST 1% TIME!!!

EDIT3: I forgot to mention this. The game uses Portable 2's style of attaching effects to Avatars and whatnot. Another thing is, you can equip TWO Avatars in this game. YAY!

If you think manually activating FEVER in the classic modes is retarded, try doing it in the .2T modes. =.=

Well, I'd keep my fingers crossed if I were you. They do have all those weird effectors like 1% Death so I wouldn't be surprised if they had Auto FEVER.

By the way, Auto is now called Anti-Break. They now have a female basic Avatar. What the heck? It looks a hell lot better than the male basic Avatar, by the way.

The Avatars work like this: In the Lounge, you can set any of the Avatars you have as your DJ Icon by pressing Triangle. In any Song/Mission Selection Screen, you can press Square to access the Studio. In the Studio, you can change Crew Members, your Gear, Notes and Effectors. The Avatars that actually give any effects at all are the Crew Members; your DJ Icon is just for show. That's the way I like it!

Oh yeah, I just got something you want. Juggernaut, and Avatar that gives Auto FEVER.

It's the reward for viewing the entire tutorial. After that, enter Mission and select DJ Challenge. Select "On Your Mark" and press Circle. There should be an exclamation mark on it. You can't miss it, really. Unless you screw up by pressing Circle before the Tutorial completes like I did. In which case, go to Lounge > Videos then scroll until you find the Tutorial. Then watch it again.

Oh yeah, I just got another effector for S-Ranking a song. I S-Ranked Trip NM 4T; it's pretty easy to S-Rank. The effector's called Ghost Effector in the rewards section, but in the Studio it's just labelled "FADER". I'm not sure what exactly it does, but "Ghost" sounds like it'll be Blink.

Or fades when it's going down, sorta like hidden or the effectors on DJMP

DJ Max Portable 3 (Korean: 3) is an upcoming music game for the PlayStation Portable published and developed by Pentavision in South Korea, and is a sequel to the earlier DJ Max Portable game series.DJ Max Portable 3 was announced shortly after DJ Max Technika 2: Crew Race was announced. Soon after, the official trailers from PM Studios and Pentavision was launched.
