Spice and Wolf

I just finished both seasons and the anime and read the manga up to the most recent update. Since I just found out it originated from a light novel series, how close is the anime/manga to the light novel series?

I haven't read the manga, but the anime follows the light novel series pretty well. I'm not too far into the light novel series, since I've only read what's translated and haven't attempted to try the Japanese version yet.

I know that the light novels are obviously pretty far away from the anime series. There are 14 volumes, and the anime series pretty much went through I believe the first 5 or so.

The manga is closer to the light novel series than the anime. The anime used Chloe as an antagonist when it was... whatever his face was.
Chapter 16 Nora fucking hnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggg by the way.

Volume 2 of the novel is coming out soon, if not already I believe. Can't believe what they orginally did with the covers, but I'm glad they went and tried to fix it. If volume 1 had a paperback with the original cover, I'd definitely start buying them no questions asked, but all I've heard is that it's only the jacket with that, unless they started republishing new versions with the old cover.

I was reading the site and it said Coming June 2010, and since it's not June 2010 anymore, I assumed it was out, but the fact that it still said "Coming June 2010" gave me doubts.

Ugh, not just that. Some retailers don't even give you the jacket with the original art at all. I've checked out a nearby Borders and Barnes & Noble, but no luck. Also, Amazon doesn't have it. Fortunately, I believe that Rightstuf does sell it with the dust jacket.

I ordered mine from Rightstuf back when it first came out. I can assure that I did indeed get my jacket with it.

I ordered volume 2 earlier today, which is funny seeing as how this thread just happened to pop up shortly after. In any case, the second book comes with the original cover, while the Twilight Americanized cover is used as the jacket instead. It's what they should have done in the beginning, but whatever lets them sell more, I guess. Light novels tend to fail when brought to the west, so I don't mind them trying to change things up a bit in an attempt to keep the project alive.

I want a second edition for volume one with the original cover on the paper back though and I could care less about the jacket. *sheds a tear for Horo*
