Should I buy Phantasy Star Portable? L> advice

Backstory:
My first MMORPG was Phantasy Star Online version 2 <PAL> for the DreamCast, I played that when I was in my Freshmen and Sophomore year in High School. I'm now in my upcoming 4th year in college, so as you can see, it's been a long time. Having played that game and connecting straight to EU servers, I find myself to be compelled by the game as well as it's community. I had to quit after a while because my DreamCast died on me. :/ I played it for about a year and a half, connecting to EU servers without having to pay any internet fees or membership fees. I know that Phantasy Star Portable has great reviews and everything! but is the game centered around the Phantasy Star Universe world? I would assume so, right? (NVM, researched, based on PSU) Do classes / characters still use MAGs and can HUmars still use Resta, etc? I remembered in V2, HUmars could use almost any spells any Force classes could, except their spells are weaker in comparison or has less range.

I've been digging up photos and gameplay footage, and to be honest, it doesn't look bad at all. The only thing I am a bit worried about is whether the sequel is coming out to NA or not. If it is, I'd rather wait til the sequel comes out and get that instead. There's been no news in regards to the sequel being released in NA, extremely disappointed. Thinking of just buying a new copy on eBay, since buying a new one at GameStop is like 40 dollars, excluding tax. Ugh.

Any suggestions?

And knowing how I am, I'll probably play a female character with long hair, like how I used to play as back then. Too bad to connect online, I have to have a PS3, I think. Sucks. Oh well, I don't mind playing offline. Might be repetitive after a while though, but I always loved Phantasy Star games.

Also, not sure about the first, but the 2nd game has a glasses accessory, +1 for me.

You should buy PSP2 if that's what you're looking for. Well buy. I'm gonna play it too.

Definitely, that's assuming it even comes out in NA. No word on it as of recently. However, what I do know is that your character from the first game can be transferred over to the 2nd. A small incentive for me to play both, actually.
