CPQ2 medals

Basically my situation is this: I am CPQ2ing and I want to get the 10 stat medal and a lot of wins (more than that of the first place guy) in order to make it last longer, but i don't need the 7 stat medal, and i don't want the current holder to lose it. However, the medals are given to the person ranked #1 only in the server, only 1 person can have a medal at a time.

What i want to know is, how are the medals removed from their current holders?

is it automatically removed when they are outranked? or do i have to complete the medal quest and actually get the medal in order for the current holder to lose it?

is it possible that i just get the +10 stat medal and get more wins than first place but still have him keep the 7 stat medal because i don't click "i would like to compete for the 7 stat medal challenge"?

NOTE:
The 10 stat medal quest name: "The Gifted Carnivalian"
The 7 stat medal quest name: "The Carnivalian Of Absolute Victory"

NOTE:
-you get the 7 stat medal by having the most wins hands down
-you get the 10 stat medal by having the highest win percentage, in the case that 2 people have the same win %, the one with the greater # of wins gets the medal.

I'm pretty dang sure I've seen people above level 70 with the medal, still. Unless that was a glitch.

@locked, i know im not supposed to double post, but it was either that or start a new thread(with the exact same post on it), and i desperately needed this to be answered.

also tell me where you got the info about losing it automatically when your outranked pls (even if the person with more wins than you doesnt even do the quest for the medal).

btw you also dont lose the medal after lvl70 or 71, i know a lvl83 that has it.
