When you're watching anime...

Hm I listen to them now and again, but I usually skip them, since I never see much point in listening to it more then once. Unless I really like the intro, Hikaru No go and FMA Brotherhoods 1st opening, are a good example +_+

No, I do not skip it.
Oh man, Tank is amazing. The saxophone solo in the extended version is ridiculously difficult, it exceeds the instrument's natural range by almost a whole octave (read: near impossible to even play the notes) and that guy's playing it so fast. Whoever that saxophonist is, he's a master.
finalbragade Wrote:If it's a single episode... i usually let the song play put i don't really pay attention

if i'm trying to "catch up" in a series I usually skip everything.
This, usually. I'll especially skip them if the OP/ED is a real mood whiplash with the context of the episode (upbeat ED song after a depressing episode can really ruin the tension for the next one)

Clannad after story near the end was probably the best example of this.

Saddest s'hit going down, HOLY S'HIT UPBEAT SONG WHY RUIN THIS.

For me, I usually break down openings and endings into five categories:
A) Tank, Zankoku na Tenshi no Teze/Cruel Angel's Thesis.
B) Watching it, and enjoying it.
C) Due to a lack of interesting animation but liking the song, just letting it play in the background as I FaceBook or something as it plays in the background. Sadly, this is where The Real Folk Blues went for me. As much as I liked the art, I was too lazy to repeatedly sit through the still images.
D) Do not like the song or animation; or just plain bored with it. This is what I did for most of Blood +'s endings and one opening when I watched it in middle school.
E) Shaft openings and endings of recent years; there's amazing art and music usually. Good god, the several versions of Kuusou Rumba and the rap are still so darn addictive. Bakemonogatari's ending that starts at about episode 4 is amazing.

I also don't watch the unholy trinity of neverending shonen anime, but I'm pretty prone to check out the openings and endings; because I somehow find them more enjoyable than actually watching the series most of the time- it's been a bit of a habit or mine since I started reading the main three neverending shonen manga versions in elementary and middle school.

Ouran High School Host Club did an excellent job of this with how "Shissou" would fade in, and I wish Last Alliance's actual version of this song had this "fade" part that plays before "Shissou" actually started.

Agreed. I haven't seen too many animes that use this idea though, or at least be able to recall them from the top of my head.

I'm watching Naruto Shippuden episode 139!

Yeah, Ouran High School Host Club is definitely a nice example of how the ED smooths nicely with the anime. Some episodes of Full Metal Alchemist also went into the ED very nicely.

Has nothing to do with the topic. Please stop trying to bump your post count.

On the other end of the spectrum, toradora, which imo has the most elegant endings for every single episode and fits with the song which in itself is so dynamic so if any situation is going on, it doesn't feel weird when the song comes on.

I'm not the biggest anime watcher, but I do watch the openings and endings. I enjoy the music and I like the artwork during ending credits Smile

I watch the opening/ending a maximum of five times then I skip.

In the wrong thread, man. This belongs in the "Currently Airing Anime" thread.

On another note, does anyone like those narrations about the basic plot of the anime that usually get lumped before the opening? For an example...

Yakitate Japan Wrote:There's English bread, German bread, and French bread; but Japan's bread, Japan, does not exist.
In that case, there is no choice but to create it!
This is the serious, biographical ballad of a boy who possesses Solar Hands, Azuma Kazuma, who will create a bread made by and for the Japanese people, which can be presented to the world proudly.

Other examples include Hayate no Gotoku, and I think One Piece did it also.

Personally, I just change to a different tab for a second, unless it's Hayate no Gotoku which managed to keep it fresh by changing it around slightly each episode.

I NEVER skip the OP/ED of an anime, the OP usually helps me get in the mood to watch the anime.
