First thought: Angels and Demons.
Second thought: Symmetry. Third Thought: They don't exist. Lolconspiratisttheorists.

Interesting theory and all that with the Illuminati, but seriously I have a much better time believing that the US government is controlling the world than some secret society supposedly founded by Galileo or w/e.
lol @ conspiracy theorists. I have yet to see a "mystery" that's blown wide open by these supposed "conspiracy theorists". I theorize that they're just mental nutjobs that can't get a better hobby and want to hide their zanyness by hiding under the name "conspiracy theorist".

Pomegranate Wrote:this isn't the funhouse. Agreed. Half of these "discoveries of symbolism" are nothing more than coincidences of people using symbols because they look cool/have been used for centuries, without really understanding what they mean. Whether you like Dan Brown or not he is correct in his novels when he describes this aspect of modern human society. However, the one fact you can't trifle on is this: the Illuminati were, at one point, a real organization. I am no symbology/archaeology specialist in Illuminati lore, so I don't know the full story behind the organization nor whether or not a contemporary group descended from the original exists, but I can affirm that it was a real organization designed to further human insight in science during the Catholic Inquisition of the late Renaissance (if I recall correctly). Again, whether or not you like Dan Brown, I have yet to see evidence his novels are incorrect in their presentation of brotherhood legend, so I'd suggest reading some of them if you'd like to learn more (with Angels & Demons, of course, being the specific choice if you're looking for a plot focusing on the Illuminati). Of course, the best way to learn the truth would be to look for credible information from teachers/professors; many colleges/universities may even have symbology courses that highlight certain organizations, so check those out if you have the credits.

I would have to disagree 100% with you about the symbology courses, and I can cite several sources. Dan Brown created the symbology class. There is actually no symbology course at Harvard.

Another thought....
Go buy a monopoly board, the here and now world edition. Look at the credit cards, they expire at december 2012. Now look at the pyramid arrows. Line them up so that the bright side points toward the bottom. Now look at the tire of the car, it represents an eye on top of a pyramid, hence an illuminati symbol. COINCIDENCE? idk and idc you decide

Unless you've checked the course books of every college and university in the world, both undergraduate and graduate, there still is reason to believe a symbology class exists somewhere.

There probably is a Symbology class somewhere. There are majors for pretty much everything in this society that expects you to get a degree out of it. So I agree.

Missed the "may". I was incensed on replying because I read couple of satirical articles on Dan Brown lately, about how he's gender biased, an idiot, the devil, and etc. etc. Pretty hilarious, but some of it was actually true. And just Googling it up, according to this article, there are no Professors of Religious Symbology. Weird. There's a Super Smash Brothers Melee college course somewhere in the United States, but not a Religious Symbology course.
