How do YOU save MP?
#1
So, I'm level 39 right now in DnF... and since behemoth silver night I've been having serious MP problems.... buying up to 100k in mana potions just after 3-4 runs of a kings stage...

Since we have AH here i bought some MP regen stuff when i reached underfoot, like the gentleman's robe, flare skirt and shoulder warmer, along with my sky tower title, and i heal 7mp per second aprox.

But hell its boring to wait ~6 minutes each 2-4 rooms just to refill my mana and using mana shield to not die instantly doesn't help either...

And you guys, how do you do it with your class? i bet launchers and summoners have the same problems :<

Do 1st Spine Expert over and over and over. You get plenty of Tentacles plus MP in the form of Wine and regular Loton potions.

Exorcists don't really burn through that much MP since our attacks hit pretty hard and one use is good enough to wipe out a room.

Monks don't need to spend as much MP as long as the combo is up. Then again, I've only been as far as Dendroid. <_<

As a Witch, I just about break even or gain a few MP pots on every run I do. Sometimes I'll use a few on Kings or even Masters, but normal and expert runs are almost 100% MP potless.
#5
Do you solo? Whenever I solo on my launcher I run out of MP a few rooms before the boss, but just wait it out and browse SP or something.
#6
Yeah, 6 minutes is not thta long.... but i miss the days where i could obliverate a dungeon with all my MP left...

Now in underfoot for example... 2-3 runs and I'm dry...

I never had to use MP pots on my Witch. Literally, ever. About the only things that would make me use one is the long solo boss fights, like Isadora, Vangelis and Ryku. When full clearing King's, I'd sometimes consider using one. Instead, I'd just wait a couple mins and resume. I've yet to use any more than a few MP pots on my Battle Mage, even doing King's runs.

I have THOUSANDS saved up on my Witch. And my Battle Mage has a few hundred saved already, as well.

I can maybe understand more in hellish places like the Temple (long solo boss fights), but you make it sound like you're going through crazy amounts. Do you get hit a lot or something? I assume Underfoot = Aphelia? What about Shallow Keep is giving you trouble?

If you run low just spend some time farming Behemoth maps for Wine.

Not everyone is as pro as you, Kyle. "I run First Spine on Kings without getting hit all the time" I can't even make it to the boss without taking at least 5-6 hits. As much as 20 if I'm not being careful and trying to do it fast.

f3 I'm not that good. It just takes some practice.

If something is giving you trouble, do some dungeons focusing specifically on it. I was absolutely terrible at earning Style and S+ ranks when I started playing. Once I found out how to earn them, I practiced until it felt easy. Some people can adapt faster, but surely almost anyone can get it eventually. I get hit so many more times when I party with someone because I'm not used to it. I feel like I do far worse in parties, even embarrassingly so sometimes. I've never practiced working with others enough.

Practice strategies and run-throughs focusing on avoiding damage. As a Battle Mage, that is a great way to save MP. A little downtime to practice getting better at something isn't a big deal at all.

Hit and run through tactics may work when you're a low BM, but trust me they will NOT work as efficiently later. Unless you want to take like 30 minutes to run a dungeon <_<. The problem with mp for BMs is chasers. Chasers ARE the main source of your damage, the dps is just too much to pass them up to save mp. Since we wear cloth that offers less mp recovery (fuuuu), AND we have lower mp, saving MP is really hard unless you want to slowly run dungeons/afk a lot :/. With max mp shield, the hp:mp ratio is amazing, but not getting hit at later stages (bwanga comes to mind =_=) is really hard to do if you want to run efficiently too. This though doesn't mean you have to spam a billion chasers per mob. I'm 38 atm, and I use maybe 100-200 mp per room in kings chambers if I mob correctly. Boss is where I have to burn pots though and I've learned to live with the fact that BMs have to burn mp :/.

However, if you're strapped on cash like I assume you are (?) then yeah, it's unavoidable to afk. I was struggling around 1mil~ until I got lucky with a few chamber drops and raised it to 10mil. So now I just buy pots (bought around 250/300 hp/mp and it's actually lasting for quite awhile, still have around 200~ of each and gained a couple levels since then) like a crack addict D:. Man it feels GOOD not having to afk anymore >_<.

yeah, chasers take from 11 to 18 mana per cast...

Pots are anything from 1:1 ratio to 1:3 ratio in the AH, so the price isn't the problem the problem is, i get hit from 0 to 100 times in dungeons (average is 40) but thats my fault, I'm too hasty, and sometimes I'm slow to react when i have 4 banshees, 3 zombies and lots of nais ramming my ass...

And since i like to RAM pomegranate WITH MY FREAKING FACE, i get hit alot, but that pays when you clear a room in 1 minute or less...

When I first reached behemoth on my Spitfire I found myself having tons of issues regarding mp usage in dungeons. So I found myself developing methods of how I use my bullet buffs, like only casting piercing booster while going through normal maps and casting fire/ice bullets while combating a mini boss, or just using 1 grenade per room etc.

I relay don't worry about my MP usage its my HP loss that bothers me(I hate being a glass canon). You could always buy Mp pots from peoples storesBiggrin

I try not to use chasers all the time and charge up palm blast all the way, it deals a crap load of damage. Partying also helps.

Yeah, but, doing a xxx stab upper palm combo eats like what... 50mp? even if i did x chaser x chaser x chaser i would end up using the same mana amount, plus the buffs...

So far I've been running stages without mana shield, and using as much xxx combos as i can instead of skills of chasers, but:

1) i get hurt... alot
2) it takes way too long.

I actually did an entire silver night king rush solo by myself. Right before the boss I noticed I was at 25% hp and like 80% mp. I forgot mana shield lolol.

Well what you can also do is try and get all the monsters in 1 spot. Full swing does a good amount of damage, like 2-3kish, then just shoot a chaser then. Try to use big attacks on big mobs, or try to move monsters closer to one another so your chaser/atks hit all of them instead of going 1 on 1.
