Legendary Pirate: Testonen
#1
I wasn't sure where to put this but I've been thinking about what Nexon could do and with some supporting ideas from Isaac on making it more realistic for actual content. This is purely speculation/made up, for the record.

Uh... I was going to do this in story form but I think that just doing points will be fine.

What we know about Testonen currently:
  • He is the father of Kyrin, leader of pirates and captain of the Nautilus.
  • He was slain by the Black Magician
  • He was friends (or related to?) Athena Pierce who is an elf. (They verify this during the level 63 Aran quest)

The Black Magician was sealed away during the time of the legendary heroes which means that there is absolutely no way short of time traveling that Testonen could have been alive after this time. He is at least hundreds of years old. We also know that Kyrin is 20 years old; however we are unaware of Kyrin's race. She wears a large hat and has a lot of hair which covers her ears, leaving the possibility that she is also an elf, which means she could be twenty in elven years, aging similarly to Athena Pierce (who still appears quite young after many centuries) or it could even be a cover age to hide her identity.

---------------------------

Now for the story of Testonen's awakening.

The scene is a dark, dank cave with very little light, done in the same style as the path to the Black Magicians lab in the Magatian undergound. The character awakes, taunted by echoing laughter, wearing torn rags and aching with nearly drained HP. After pondering on his where-abouts, he tries to make his way forward, grasping the walls. A soft voices rings clear through the others, guiding him, teaching him (training course.) Finally he arrives in a slightly brighter room with a pit of bubbling green goo in the middle and a large throne. Atop the throne sits a bored-looking man, staring at our hero with interest.

Testonen begins to inquire to his whereabouts, but is cut off by the Lord exclaiming that this is the Underworld and he is the ruler. He informs Testonen of what has occurred and of the eventual and inevitable return of the Black Magician. Testonen begins to beg and bargain with the Lord to release him from this nightmare so he can save his daughter and the world. The Lord sneers and summons a beast (boss) that Testonen must defeat if he so desires to regain his freedom.

The battle will be much like the Black Magician's Cornian's/Skelegon's in the Aran story, where they can't hit you. This will be to get you used to the controls and skills.

After winning the battle, the Lord laughs and tells Testonen that he will see him again soon, before disappearing. The screen goes black and you awake in a cavern near Perion. Your character's name/gender/look will have been chosen at character creation like normal, and your revival will be a reincarnation into the character you chose. Testonen's soul will inhabit this body, making room for both female and male character's despite Testonen obviously being male.

Your first task will be to reach the Nautilus; to reclaim your ship and to warn your daughter of the impending danger. After a trial, you will arrive in Kyrin's quarters. Testonen realizes that he can't reveal his identity yet and decides it would be best to watch from afar, and asks if he can become a pirate and work on the ship (at level 10.) Various quests will be forwarded to you, mostly grunt work, but in doing these quests Testonen will learn more of what has come to pass.

As your character grows and begins utilizing their skills, Kyrin will begin to get suspicious of your motives, believing you are one of the Black Magician's apprentices. You will be ostracized from the crew (around level 50?) and at level 70 you will come back to fight Kyrin and prove your worth to her for the third job advancement, after which you will reveal your true identity...

I like this idea,Sarah
but if I remember correctly Testonen is dead... so it would make sens if the legendary warrior would be a part of kyrin's family instead,
and his main aim is tofind the truth behind testonen

He is dead, that's why it starts off in the underworld and he is reincarnated. In legends, the underworld is where one's soul goes after they pass. It's hell, essentially.

You and I just talked about this in-game, but I love it. Very well thought-through, with plausible twists and turns that create a truly unique gaming experience. As we talked about as well, I think the cavern in Perion as a location for the character's reincarnation is a bit weak, whereas, like we discussed, a cavern in Deep Aqua Road would make much more sense. Have the player reawaken in the real world, have to escape some "dangerous sea monsters" (nerfed Bone Fish, Sharks, etc. that don't ohko a Lv. 1 player), and as the player is weakening and about to pass out, the Nautilus speeds by and picks them up.

Cue the rest of the story.

Read this thread please, Nexon Korea.

Yeah, that also. I'll be adding this to my spblog once maintenance is done so you can follow my thoughts there, cause no one visits this forum annnnd then two people bumped my thread down.

Anyway, other thoughts include having to do quests for the Lord of the Underworld to regain your skills. There would need to be an easy connection to the underworld from Victoria though. Perhaps a new bridge to Aqua could come from this.

There's nothing that says that Testonen is knuckler. Anywhere. As a matter of fact, I've built this entire idea around the fact that I believe he's a slinger, not a knuckler.

He used his bare hands, though. Meaning fists = knucklers. :|

Where did you read this?

Also it's entirely possible that he's a hybrid with both long and close range attacks.

It's in the story, something about punching his enemies to death with his steel fist.

In the storyline provided by Nexon Korea? Because if so, then it's their idea that sucks, not Sarah's. Next time be clear who you're insulting - or better yet, don't make such comments.

Looks like I rustled someone's E-BF.

And who even decided that nexon korea was actually going to make him the pirate hero class?

Annnd let's not do this here. The point of this thread is to discuss a potential story for the legendary pirate that I (and hopefully others) think would be neat. It's in no way official so getting your panties in a bunch over which weapons the person would use is a waste of time.

-havent read anything, just wanna mention something-
when i read the thread title i misread it as Legendary Pirate: Testosterone ><
edit: read the storyline, it wouldn't be surprise if nexon takes this idea from you and make that legendary char. keep it up!
edit2: the elf and pirate part is just......weird, i never seen an elf pirate before, but here's my suggestion:
testone was dead bla bla bla, before testone died, during his training, he passed his skill down to his children, whom passed them down to the further offsprings by writing the information on scrolls. when testone returned, he claimed that he is the great testone. kyrin, even though she suspects that he is lying, still starts to teach testone the basic skills of testone, testing to see if he is the great testone, since the legendary skill can only handle by the blood of the testone family. as time posess, kyrin gives him more skill. at the end of the jobs (like at the end of the 2nd job), testone fights with kyrin to prove that he is able to handle the skills. and at 4th job kyrin will teach him every 4th job skill that is available and say that those are all she know from the scrolls that was left behind, in order to fully regain his skills, he had to hunt from monsters, which as time passes stole those scrolls (skillbooks away)
just a suggestion

re-awakening in perion does sound kinda weak, like fr0z had said. i do agree on somewhere better would be nice, but aqua? nah, how about an expansion on nautilus port? he awakens in his/her new body and sees/smells the nautilus in the distance, and tries to get there. i mean, think about it, what kinda port exists that isnt a town? iirc what that is is actually just a dock. theres no real town to nautilus, just the wooden dock and some rock outcroppings, and a fort set up by the crew of the nautilus. maybe have him awaken in the town and do the menial tasks that take him to the nautilus.

Thing about this is that Evan's house is literally off the same map that leads to the port. Then we've got Mushroom Castle as an expansion from Henesys and the Lith expansion. Everything is happening at the bottom of the victoria map. I chose Perion because it's gone relatively unchanged since GPQ was added and because it seems most likely that a passage to the underworld could be hidden amongst the rock there. Also, all low levels begin on Victoria so it needs to have a connection to the island.

However, in speaking with FrozNLite about it earlier (immediately after posting this, actually) we came to the conclusion that Perion is very weak and that, as a pirate it would be fitting for him to awake in "Davy Jones Locker." It isn't far fetched to believe a gate to the underworld would be hidden within the depths of the sea, either. The Lord of the Underworld isn't cheering you on so much as he is screwing with you, which is why he stripped you of your powers and put you into the body of a weak mortal. He's trying to make things difficult for Testonen, and thus it makes sense for him to be reborn at the bottom of the sea.

So from there, you would have to make your way up where you would find a small isle and would sit abandoned until the Nautilus happens upon you. They take you on-board and dock at the port, which is how you end up on Victoria. Perhaps before you make it to Victoria they'll take you to an island where they train (like Rien for Arans, Maple Island for Beginners, etc) until you hit level 10 and become a full-fledged pirate... grunt.

I really like the idea of the Lord of the Underworld (I'm really hesitant to call him Hades if you haven't noticed, I'm sure maple should have their own name for him) screwing around with you and using you to help him cause chaos, threatening to reclaim your soul if you don't listen to him. Testonen would only agree to help in order to bide his time and regain his strength so he could eventually break ties with this beastly creature, of course. So your necessary quests will be doing grunt work and learning the history of the maple world through the pirates and doing evil work for the lord of the underworld; perhaps even infiltrating the black wings. This is what could cause Kyrin's suspicions.

edit: dfshihfdhsogf just did a little more research and apparently Kyrin was raised by athena pierce. Perhaps the child that Aran retrieves during the flashback is Kyrin? At one point I mentioned that it's possible that Testonen was captaining the boat seen in the Aran video.

Just a couple thoughts.
