#21
If I have vista and I want to install windows 7, do I have to do a clean installation or can I just upgrade it without losing any files?

you can upgrade to a version that matches your vista version, like vista home premium -> windows 7 home premium or to windows 7 ultimate.

Why we talk about "installing" more ram after he said the above is beyond me.

If you have a laptop, forget about changing the specs. Unless you know what you're doing, you can't f'uck with laptops.

If desktop, there is little point upgrading ram JUST for 64 bit. If you have 1 GB of ram, chances are the rest of your parts suck ass anyway. Thus, more ram won't really help much at all unless you upgrade your processor as well as increase ram.

Just fresh install 7 x86 (32-bit) and be done with it.
