From another forum I post on:
Please for the love of God tell me there is someone here from Texas to confirm this.

Five years ago, there was vote in Texas over a variety of things. Among them, was what basically ammounted to an anti-gay amendment. But the wording left a loophole which I saw it immediatley at the time, and apparently the goverment has taken 5 years to catch up and realize... the wording actually bans ALL marriage in Texas.
"Art. 1 Sec. 32. MARRIAGE. (a) Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman. (b) This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage."
Marriage tends to be a legal status identical to marriage.
The best part is, I *did* vote against it back in the day, and as I had an interest in the result, I noticed that loophole immediatley. Like, the very next day. Its taken them 5 years to realize it, and now its a big thing, the politicians are all "Oh uhm... crap."
So... anyone married within the last 5 years in Texas... isn't, and until its ammended, no marriages will count. They'll probably just pass a bill that umbrellas all marriages within the period and then ammends the wording. But, the thing I noticed years ago, and JOKED about... is actually fact.
It is currently impossible to legally get married in Texas.
So... any of you ladies out there want to get hitched?
