We aren't puppets of God, but that doesn't mean that God doesn't exist.

God let us choose if believing in "him" or not and let us do whatever we wanted in life.

People who believed in him and had a good behaviour in the life will be "rewarded" in the afterlife, those who did not, will either go to the purgatory or hell, depending from many factors.

For example, if you didn't believe in God because you were ignorant or your heart wasn't "deep" enough to understand certain things, you may go to the purgatory, but if you didn't believe in him because you just refused to.. you'll probably go to hell.

Well, I'm a catholic and I'm not ashamed of that (why should I be?), so yeah. Feel free to flame / insult / laugh at me. I don't care.

I don't go to the church every Sunday and I'm a sinner (there isn't anyone who isn't a sinner in the Earth anyway - there are just people who aren't big sinners and people who are) but I deeply believe in God. And my believing isn't something "so that I'll indeed go to heaven in the afterlife", but something I feel inside. I could even go to hell, but I'll still believe in God.
