Idling with a program designed to get you hats faster is hacking.

Actually, one of my guildies only got 15k points...

I guess it was meant to be 15k per egg or something, dunno how they counted them though (number of times completed HT egg quest?)

First, get your facts straight.

1. Idling with that program didn't increase your chances at all. It just emulated you being on a server, completely afk. No better chances, just more time, less CPU resources used.
2. At more than one point, people asked the TF2 developer team, through E-mails, if using the idler was bad or something. Their answer was to everyone asking, that "even though they were annoyed by it, they wouldn't take any measures."
3. The fun fact, is that quite a lot of people with the halos are acting as if they were superior to those who don't have. And ironically, those didn't even know these facts before.

My position? I waited for a while, saw the E-mail answers, to see if this changed or something, and started using it a week before they did that. I don't mind about my loss of hats, since I only got 2, the 2nd SECONDS before the blog post, or the lack of the halo. It was a risk I took, but they didn't think about how people are being arseholes about it on both sides now.
