Something broke...
#1
Well, this one I can't figure out.

While I was gone for a few hours, I come back to find that my computer will not do anything once turned on. I press the power button, and nothing appears on the screen. At first I thought the motherboard was broken.

I installed a new motherboard of the same type, 478 Pin. I turned it on, and I get the same results. Now, I can't enter BIOS, more like I can't see anything on the screen...

I do not believe it is the monitor also, when I turn on the monitor, I receive a "No Signal". Further more, with the old mother board, the red light which indicated HD Activity was fully on, while the Green which indicated Power, is off.

Anyone got any suggestions on what may be at fault?

Just a guess, but maybe your videocard?

Most likely your hard drive died. I had this same problem with my old Dell Dimension 3300.

Try swapping the memory cards from their slots. Saying MEM1 was on the first slot put it on the sceond one and viceversa.

HDD has nothing to you with a computer not showing anything on screen. If this was HDD prblem then at least the computer could boot. Do you know if the computer makes any beeps? How many of them and how long do they take between beeps? When you turn on the PC can you turn on and off NUM Lock ?

Let me know.

most likely your video card is the culprit, that's the reason why for the "no signal" and the reason why you "can't" get into the bios. It's just that you can't see yourself getting into it. Try a different video card.

The graphic cards is ONBOARD. It's a chipset, not an actual extension card. So throw that out the window =\

Thing is, I couldn't even enter BIOS menu... so at first I thought it was my mobo.

I switched it out with a new mobo, it came with a new CPU chip and RAM, and I got the -same- results. I couldn't tell what the LED lights were doing at all because I didn't hook them up that time (it was a really wacky pin set).

The fans come on at least, but that seems to be all. The fans are powered by the circuits within the motherboard, which is powered by the PSU. The only thing I did not change out was the actual PSU (Power Supply Unit), that and an actual sound card.

Two motherboards can't fry just like that... However, could the PSU actually be broken in a specific way to where it powers certain parts (Fans), but not others (CPU/HDD/BIOS)?

Cable is built into the back of the monitor.

On top of that, why would the LED flash in a different way then before if it was just the monitor o_o

So maybe you are not connecting the cables to FPANEL correctly?

...I stated...

It RANDOMLY Shut off, on the old mobo, and it didn't even boot, nothing worked, couldn't even enter BIOS, the FPANEL wasn't messed with til the new mobo... -_-

You changed to a new motherboard or one exactly the same? If you change to a diff one, it could freak out without a clean OS install. So it could still be the old motherboard at fault. Or if not, only the PSU and sound card left...

It was a different model. But the OS wouldn't matter, this is a hardware situation. The OS just wouldn't allow me to boot. Fact is, I can't even enter BIOS.
