[Lag] I found something that might help
#1
Hello Maplers!! How’s everyone??

I'm sure everyone encounters something really weird since the latest version of GameGuard and this new HackShield. I'm sure some of you found yourselves in a situation where you randomly DC/lag while spamming a full-screen skill, or really flashy one... @ 3@... or during a heavy boss fight (Zakum anyone? =P)

I noticed something estrange during the Buff-Ups (yeh... I'm a bishop); the buffs took a while to activate (Skill logo didn't show up in the upper right side of the screen as it should), even though the animations showed up.

Not just that, everything was delayed, the map exploration, the chat (all of them), the channel surfing, the grinding, NPC Chat, buddy/party/guild/alliance window, everything.

With this sort of lag, I easily DC in Free Market Ch1... It’s hell.

How the game is supposed to work to be OK? An easy way to notice is that as soon as you press the key to your do a buff, the skill logo should appear IMMEDIATELY in the upper right side of the screen. There should be NO DELAY AT ALL when you buff up or chat. All actions should happen in the very instant you give the order. Not even in a fraction of a second, it has do be IMMEDIATELY.

Knowing how it's supposed to work, I found some weird, but EFFECTIVE, solution: I go to Cash Shop > go back to the game > test the buffs response; if it's delayed, I go back to the Cash Shop and back to the game and test again. I repeat the process 'till I notice the Buffs activate as soon as I press the key.

Yes, I don't have a good internet speed (I have no choice to keep my ISP for now), but I noticed this kind of lag in a lot of Maplers' PCs in my neighborhood, including my girlfriend's PC. All of them have way better connections than I do, and all of them have the same problem that I do.

So I decided to check out the problem, where does it come from.

I'm not some fancy internet programmer or anything like that, so I'm not able to understand all of the information that I read. What I did was to use one of my old PCs as a filter and I programmed it to show me everything that comes in and out. I checked where Maple goes when it's online. So I logged in, and I got the lag... Maple keeps the same IP... I go to Cash Shop, Maple keeps the same IP... I go back to the game, Maple CHANGES the IP and LAGS OUT. (wtp...)

My Conclusion: Some of the MapleStory servers have problems and some don't; by changing channels or going back and forth from Cash Shop changes the IP address the game uses as conduct to communicate with the server.

As I said before, I'm not a technician or anything like that. This is the problem that I saw in 6 out of 6 of my friends who play Maple. The lag is the same for all and acts in the same way as mine. Those with good internet connections won't be able to notice as well as I do (my internet sucks), and because of this lag, they DC during big things such as Zakum runs or heavy training using Ultimates or high-speed attacks such as Hurricane and Rapid Fire.

I start noticing this sort of lag since the latest versions of GameGuard and then in HackShield. WHY does it do this? I have no idea. I re-installed Maple over 30 times, and I don't use the patcher. I download the game client every time Nexon does a Game Upgrade, the problem keeps being there. I use the CCleaner, I don't have any viruses (3 anti-viruses: AVG, NOD32 and Norton) and I use Ad-Aware as anti Spam/Malware.

The purpose of this threat is not to make some drama out of it or start flaming Nexon or anyone. All I want to know is if you try my method of lagging out (going back and forth from Cash Shop), what's your experience using it? Will your playing experience improve? It does in mine, and even though (I'M SURE) you have a WAY better internet than me, you might have the same problem as I do.

TRUE... I completely forgot to add that to the post. If you are absolutely OK from the beginning, with no lag at all, if you go to Cash Shop or Change Channels, you might lag. It's completely random.
