District 9

Just came back from seeing it and it was fricking amazing! I loved the documentary style of the movie, it made the movie seem very real. I was surprised by the strength of the emotion in the movie, I actually felt sorry for the way the aliens were treated. Action wasn't non-stop, but there was enough so that there was never really a dull moment in the movie. The alien weapons were badass, especially the mech. There were also weapons that you would expect an alien to have, like a vaporizer! Great storyline and sick action. 9/10

Pros:
  • Alien weapons (Vaporizer, sonic cannon, and mech).
  • CGI was well done, even if it wasn't on the scale of Transformers.
  • Great characters.
  • Camera work was seamless.
  • Blood and gore.
  • Soldier getting killed by a flying pig.

Cons:
  • Ending didn't feel right, it left me hanging
  • Fuck seemed to be thrown around too often, but that's just me.

I went and saw this at midnight yesterday. I have to say it was one of the better movies I have seen in a while. If you didn't pick up on it, the film is based on Apartheid in South Africa when white South Africans and black South Africans were segregated. I hope to God there is a sequel to this. There are 3 or 4 possible routes the Prawns can take. 9.5/10

Yea I picked up on that once I saw the "No Prawns" signs. I had to explain it to my sister though.... <.<
