Hey I watched today mazefind's translated video of the aran. and i think i realised something,please watch it firstly:

you see the first image is the black magician and his followers(like they are ready for battle)
after that it is said:"Dark Magician" waits 2 seconds and you see a warrior(s) fighting black magician and since the picture is not much coloured we can realize its the past,and next it says "war for mapleworld" it speaks on the war or tristan(testonen or w/e) war with black magician long time ago so we see them fighting.
and then you see a form of warrior in a ice,so it might be the end of the battle when black magician ran away and froze some warriors.
"hero sealed in the ice" and then a picture of girl comes up(looks like its a thought bubble or only i think)"hero awakens to the voice of a girl" ok here it became complicated,someone came and revived the arans?
and by then later you a see an "Aran" fighting the black magician monsters.
so what i think is:
we wont really get to see black magician and we wont fight him ever when we get lienne and aran
the point is,that it looks like aran will back to the past and fight black magician's clones! and you see its in the dragon road so it might be reliable.
its just what i figure out from watching the video,and as you see by fiel's post,aran is located next to the iced area of leafre and a bit behind it the dragon path is found,so i think youll go to the past of lienne because we all know that once VICTORIA AND OSSYRIA WERE CONNECTED that means you will go to the past of lienne and fight the dark magician in leafre's area so look for next expansions for the past.
Edit:in the movie part when the aran fights you can see FIRE IN THE BACKGROUND and it doesnt exist in nowadays leafre dragon path and its a sign of WAR
its all prections and thoughts but black magician is not exclusive for aran so the time when we see aran fights black mage clones it might be for:
job advancement or aran task(like KoC when they need to kill bosses).
area of past leafre and when black magician was alive
or its just a task for a quest
