Cap on the amount of remaining aps
#21
OK. I have the definite idea, I guess. All AP not used at all, are lost.

HOWEVER. When you use AP into hp and mp, the game does the calculation, and it thinks...

"UHM... STR, DEX, INT, LUK aren't what it supposedly had to... Therefore, it should have had something into HP/MP"

When you loose AP after the 255 limit, you see the game thinking...

"UHM... STR, DEX, INT, LUK aren't what it supposedly had to... Therefore, it should have had something into HP/MP"

See my point? The game tricks itself. Specially since it's the best way to keep track of HP, and why hp wash is possible.

 Spoiler

So I was lvl 83. At that lvl, one should have 5*82+25 = 435 total aps. Here is an ss of my char:

There are a few things wrong with this ss.

1. It is missing 10 aps. I did not bother adding aps since lvl 30 because I was leeching. I remember that at lvl 81 I also had 255 aps remaining. This would mean that on my last 2 lvl ups, aps have not been registered. An alternative would be that the 10 aps went in mp, which seems very unlikely to me. Is it possible that aps gained once I had 255 aps remaining are lost?

2. I am able to take out from hp/mp. Obviously, as a rep mule, I did not add any point into this pool. How is it possible that I can reset now?

I am conscious that my ss is not an absolute proof, as I could have added 10 aps in mp. I did not know about this cap so was not prepared to have good ss. Anyone is welcome to test this on another char. If you don't believe me, I can't convince you more unless someone else makes another char like this.

Also, I tried adding aps to str. It went down to 254 on the first click, so it's not hidden aps.

My question: is there any way to confirm there is indeed a limit of 255 ap remaining? More specifically, should I try buying 9 more ap resets if I continue this char?

edit: I know 255 is 2^8-1.

1451 is absurdly high for a spearman's base MP at that level. I'd imagine that the points went to MP, or you have some crazy ass INT gear.

I suppose the best way to test that is to level up again and record AP gain. Then spend 5 APs or so, and try levelling again.

Or for all we know, maybe the amount of unused APs you have impacts MP growth.

Well, I can tell you that I have 19xx MP with HB and a MoN at level 154, and have only reset about 150mp tops (base). There is absolutely no way to get that much on a spearman lv 8x without massive INT gear usage, unless Spearmen get more MP per level than DKs/DrKs.

I checked an ss that I had of lvl 81 and I can say that I did not gain 10 aps worth of mp. I had 4+129 int on lvl ups since lvl 50.

Alloy's solution fits this. I guess he's right. I probably just lost 40 mp and 31k nx.

What? +129 INT? That explains the MP gain itself. That's crazy. :f6: Assuming it's not a typo...

Alloy's solution makes sense as to why you can wash, I guess.

If thats really true, then its the most retarded way of keeping data i have ever seen. Why start calculating the remaining AP and your str, dex, int, luk when you can add two more sql columns for hp\mp? Even nexon are not capable of doing that.

... Two? They only have one.

Most likely they'll add data into hp/mp whenever they see that the AP-byte is filled, according to what we've been witness to.

Question is, whether the databases added that into HP and MP, OR into HP OR MP. Care to check out? You should notice if both your MP increase like hell, or your HP do. Or both, for that matter.

129 isn't a lot for people with funding... That's around 150 int with an HTP, which is nothing special by "godly" standards, but still really good. Cmon CS! You should have better INT gear than that with a Level 200 Bishop Rolleyes

The reason the cap is 255 is becuase its such a high number. They figured that no one could ignore raising there AP points for 51 Levels.

Its basically an 8-bit punishment for anybody leeching or hacking (mainly leeching actually, becuase Hackers would bother to raise thier AP every now and then.)

Judging by this, HP/MP don't have any AP at all. If you have less than the "max for your level", you can do reset from them into normal str/dex/luk/int. That's why the game doesn't know which it is.

When you overrun the "available AP" it just acts like they're spent in HP/MP without increasing either.
