Knights of Cygnus - Gender

Simple question: Does the gender of the Cygnus need to be the same gender as the parent? Upon looking at a screenshot of someone creating a Cygnus, I was unable to find an option that allowed gender-switching.

Interesting question. I wondered about this as well, because my NL is my highest levelled character, but it's a female. I wanted to make a male-Cygnus Archer on that very same account. ;/

cygnus characters don't have parent characters anymore, and even if you guys get the parent/child relationship version of cygnus when it comes out (which is unlikely), this question is unanswerable as kMS doesn't allow you to choose different genders for each character on an account.
