Bad to d/c instead of log before Server Maintenance?

Hi guys, As you all know, there's server maintenence this morning. Well as I was about to log off (safely), I got a wave of lag....which then stopped, and I d/ced before I could log. Now I concerned as whether not logging off as advised does something bad to your character. Much help would be appreciated.

I have been disconnected by the server multiple times as a maintenance starts. It’s never caused me any problems.

i got rolled back once. i sold an item right before and the sc disconnected me. when i got on after it, i still had the item. O_O it was a long time ago though. nothing's happened since then.

I put a few things in storage and took em out before the SC, so if I get rolled back at all, I'll have possibly some extra arcglaives and and extra Earring LUK 60
