I hardly got comments on this, made me sad. <_< Basically, I was in a huge drawing slump and randomly came back to it after weeks of no drawing and got a drawing done that I'm really proud of. Took me hours to do. It was sketched on paper, drawn on MSPaint, colored on OpenCanvas with some MSPaint tweaks here and there. It was an old Basil request that I decided to finish.



I wanted to add a glow to the arrow and bow but OpenCanvas sucks with cooperating. :<

Really great job on the bow! You can tell right away that it's the Arclancer.

Personally, the colors are a little intense for me (I know he's wearing a red WG and has blue skin, so that's not all your fault) and the lines are really rough, but that seems more because of the particular program you're using. I'm not familiar with it so I wouldn't know.

Overall though, it feels like a really big improvement over some of your older stuff, so good job and keep at it!

Thanks muchly! The program I used for the lineart was simply Paint, that's why the lines are so rough. I'm not at all used to programs like Paintshop Pro and Photoshop and OpenCanvas only allows freehand drawing, from what I know. I prefer the curve tool, which Paint has, it gives me more control over my lines. :<

I feel like the only one who really enjoys drawing on Paint. o_o

i am impressed by the cleanness of the outline of the bow. i think there's certainly a place for this style (such as webcomics etc) with bold black outlines etc. i like the colour gradients as well, especially considering you didn't use a gradient tool (unless that WAS a gradient tool in opencanvas, i am not familiar with the program myself - GIMP girl).

thought for you - perhaps consider doing all the "lines" in the same size of paintbrush? (see the features of his face and outline of the arrow, cf. the outline of the figure and bow.) may simply be your style.

see above. anti-aliasing is not the be all and end all! unless that is what you were going for.

which are the programs you're not used to? paintshop pro and photoshop, or just paintshop pro? ever thought of trying gimp? (it's opensource.)

i dare say gimp gives a good deal more control over curves (http://merit.oryo.us/b/16/drawing-smooth...-with-gimp) than the paint curve tool does - each to their own tho, you have want it before you switch to it.

i used to be obsessed with paint (you do mean ms paint(brush), the drawing program that has been around since windows 1.0, i presume) so don't feel alone! i had a stage of drawing large complex pieces using just one paintbrush size (large circle) and only one palette colour (black, with right click for white)! these are fun (:
