Fighting Pap with less than 4k HP

How the pineapple do I do this? I know what to watch for and I've had plenty of experience fighting him with HB, but I thought it'd be easy to dodge the bombs as a Corsair, but I always mess up and Recoil too early or the wrong way, or something else screws me over.

Should I wait until I can KB him with Cannon? Right now my Cannons max out in the 8ks with a Warrior Elixir.

I read Opeth's bowman low HP Pap solo guide, but it doesn't seem to apply here.

My rule of thumb: Don't kill it if you can't KB it.

Not really. If you can't take a hit from the bottom bombs, it doesn't mean you can't take a pap touch.

About how to kill without taking bomb damage. All I can say is dodge the best you can. You could try recoiling INTO pap to take touch instead of bomb damage, but that'll be a bit difficult.

I can KB it with an Apple, or by using Torpedo/Homing/lolAir Strike. I can take touch damage just fine, it's just really hard to make sure I dodge the bombs. And I don't want to use an Apple before bombs max out.

Anyway, I'm going to attempt it again right now.

my thoughts after reading this thread are that this sounds like a bad idea until you can kb him consistently. once youre cornering him he only spawns bombs on about half the map, so you at least have the other half to run to.

Yeah, I think I'll just come back after I'm level 131 and max Cannon. Problem is, even after I get max Cannon and I can KB him with a Warrior Elixir, that still leaves me flailing when my ship is repairing. More Bullseye?

First body is definitely doable without being able to KB him, though. Finally did it just now.

First bombs came out on top, nothing to worry about.


Judging by the Warrior Elixir, about 8 minutes in. Got lucky three times - he summoned bombs while I was stunned. First time I got hit with an attack as a bomb rushed me, second time I had enough time to run away, and third time I took touch damage as a bomb passed by. Scary as hell.


~11 minutes in. Pots start to become a concern.


Bombs max out ~15 minutes in. I accidentally jump and set a few off. He summons on top again and quickly maxes them out again. I use my Gelt.


The reason I'm coming back after I max Cannon. KB + 24k HP ship + maxed bombs = easy as hell.


I stop worrying that I didn't bring enough pots.


Gelt runs out just before I finish first body. I figure it'll be a waste to use another, since I'm almost done.

If a bomb spawns right in front of you (whacking range if no ship) while you're shooting, should you try to walk into it or recoil back? I died on the 2nd try because I reacted too slowly when this happened.

Just like the pics you posted, I think second body is almost impossible if you can't kb it. If it flies under you, you're pretty much screwed..

First body is obviously capable if you can survive Pap's touch damage. If you hesistate when it spawns its bombs, you could Dash into it for the 2k touch instead of trying to time your Recoil to get away from it.

pap 2nd is 12k, i struggle to do this much.

i guess you could do it after max cannon, but if he closes the gap for whatever reason you're completely screwed.

Looks like the only way you're going to be able to kill it as a Corsair is to be able to KB it, or learn to get away from being pinned.

Yeah, for some reason I thought I would get more room in the corner. Big mistake. I finally made it out, but then I got owned a few seconds later.

This, basically. The KB goes for both first and second body, and not even kevin (rejang) can KB him and he's like 7 levels above you. I hate dealing with second form unless i constantly KB it, so just max cannon and then go.
