Changes to the PIC System

It lets you change the PIC even if you get the PIC wrong...
I punched in 111111 and still got the PIC reset prompt

dafuq? seriously??? While inconsequential (assuming there IS a verification step for the old PIN when changing), this is pretty retarded.

It brought up the keypad when I clicked Yes. I didn't try changing it though.

I like the push for better account security, but PICs are stupid and I'd feel much safer with an authenticator or some sort of mobile verification. Step in the right direction though I suppose.

I was lagging pretty bad earlier and logged into one of my mules with the 'please change your PIC' message stuck on my screen, had to close the game client fully to get rid of it >_<

So now if a hacker gets on my account, first thing they do is change the PIC.
Now, while I wait for Nexon's website and e-mail to be able to change my PIC back again (or my password), I am locked out of my account and the hacker can empty it at leisure. Can't hope to get on while they're switching chars.

If you put in a wrong PIC, then answer YES and enter a new PIC (twice), it comes back at the end saying Incorrect PIC, and it will not be changed.

Yes and no. Before, if a hacker somehow got ahold of my PIC (bypass, or Nexon database leak, or w/e), he couldn't change it without my e-mail. So if I realized my account was being used I could get on it to keep it safe, while the hacker was switching chars. (Actually did that once on a mule account that was being hacked). But if the hacker can change PIC without needing e-mail verification...

Just use the change PIC button on the left side of the character select screen, no one needs your e-mail to change your pic. You only need the e-mail to reset the pic to nothing (like if you forgot your pic or if a hacker changed it and you didn't know to what). Was that button not there before or something?

The button was not there before. Hence Nexon's proud announcement that you can now change your PIC in-game.

I understand that the circumstances of your job aren't great, but ignoring things completely (which seems to be indicated here) isn't great either.

As I explained before, I am not a community person, and some things I really run by the higher ups before responding to. When I come to Southperry to answer questions, it's on my own free time, and because I enjoy interacting with the community here. I do the best I can.

Understandable. I'm sorry for putting the shortcomings of Nexon's management squarely on your shoulders when it's obvious you're doing a heck of a job individually. I guess I got pent up because I think we as users should know about all aspects of improving game security, authentication, anti-hacking measures, or otherwise; to a reasonable extent. And leaving something such as a new PIC system bugged (though it appears to be harmless) is not very reassuring towards thinking the company is taking security seriously. I think you understand that.

Get a grip on yourself.
