Return scroll or go for it?

I have a 2h empress sword, with 192 att, +9 atm. 2 stars, 1 slot left.
I have 1 2h wep att 50% scroll. Not enough mesos for another scroll or more clean slates.
Do I go for it, or wait and buy a return scroll package tomorrow and use it with that?

Do return scrolls undo fail scrolling? Or only "success"es that gave bad results (i.e., Chaos)?

I'd say just go for it because I don't think the Return Scroll works that way:

When applied to a piece of equipment which then has an upgrade scroll successfully applied, the Return Scroll allows you to decide whether you want to keep the new stats or revert back to the original state (including the upgrade slots). This is useful with Chaos scrolls, where a successful scroll attempt may still result in worse stats than you had before.

I'd say just go for it because I don't think the Return Scroll works that way:

Just to note, return scrolls DO save slots from fails. I've never used them, but there's a youtube video of a guy using them while chaosing his tyrant belt. A lot failed for him, no slots lost.

Welp, saved him the slot thats for sure.
Good thing my scroll didn't fail. I would have been furious.
