House approves resolution to keep Internet control out of UN hands

Google rallied hard. The people rallied hard. And this move will make the UN's attempt to regulate and influence the internet much, much more difficult.

For a little background (even though I expect most of you to be thoroughly educated on the issue):

This week, in Dubai, The World Conference on International Telecommunications (UN) is convening for closed-door meetings on the issue of centralized internet governance.

One of the major proposals set to be discussed involves allowing telecom operators to charge internet-content companies a premium for transmitting data internationally.

I am so glad to hear that that won't be happening, if the UN cannot regulate the Internet.
