We are aware of an issue where players are unable to launch MapleStory using gamelauncher.exe, which is found in the MapleStory installation directory or as a shortcut on the desktop. Our engineers are working on a resolution to this issue.

In the meantime, you can launch MapleStory from our website using the PLAY button. Please use Firefox or Internet Explorer, as we are still experiencing issues with launching in Chrome.

There's a fix for this.

Right click on Launcher and click on properties

where it says "C:\Nexon\MapleStory\GameLauncher.exe" or "C:\Nexon\MapleStory\GameLauncher" or whatever it says in the target box replace it with:

"C:\Nexon\MapleStory\MapleStory.exe GameLaunching"

[remember to capitalize the G and the L otherwise it will just redirect to the site.]

click OK and it should work as intended.

Yeah. This fix was posted in the patch available thread. But it's a convenient repost for those who didn't read it. :]

I just copied Maple to an new for me(but still old) laptop and when I try and run it I get the e-tracer error. I tried doing what you posted here but I only have "GameLanuncher" next to the maple icon and this didnt help. The game runs fine on the other pc. Anything else I can try?

The fix works for manually clicking on the GL shortcut on the desktop but GL is still broken if used on a macro on a keyboard. Even resetting the macro to the fix shortcut on the desktop doesn't work. So waiting for this fix. >_<

I use the game launcher from the maple file. I'll try moving it to the desktop and see if that helps. Oh using Xp if that matters.

No, that's not what you're supposed to do.

Create a shortcut to Maplestory.exe, not to GameLauncher.exe
Then edit that shortcut, and add the word GameLaunching after the .exe
